HISTORY OF HIV/AIDS
Pre 1980s
Hunters theory; HIV entered humans from
chimpanzees when the hunter butchered the
animal.
 It is believed that AIDS originated at congo
Kinshasa around 1920.
 There were AIDS related cases prior to 1980s
which were; -Arvid noe the sailor 1961,
congolese man & women 1959 & 1960.
HAHA….!!!! ,WE ARE THE CLEVER
CHAMPANZEE …..WE EVEN INTRODUCED
HIV/AIDS INTO HUMANS……

After 1980
 IN 1981 discovered in gays community in los angeles with symptoms
of AIDS hence named “gay related immune deficience” (GRID)
 Sept 1982 CDC introduce name AIDS after discovered that it affect
not only gays but the whole human race
 In 1983 luc antoine montagnier –lymphadenopathy associated virus
LAV
 1984 Roberty gallo –human T lymphotropic virus type III (HTLV III)
 1985 Both virus were found to be the same
 1986 CDC named the virus HIV
 1987 FDA first ART zidovudine approved
 1991 artist Caucus lounched the RED RIBBON
PROBLEM STATEMENT OF HIV/AIDS
we have to study AIDS cases in
order to;
 Know possible ways individuals satisfy their sexual urge without AIDS
transmissions
 Know if the use of condom reduces the transmission of aids
 Know sexual behavior changes of the HIV+ individuals.
SEVERITY OF HIV/AIDS
globally
 70 million people infected globally
 35 million people have died from AIDS till 2016
 36.7(30.8-42.9) are living with HIV/AIDS
 0.8% of adults are living with HIV
 Sub Saharan Africa is much affected where it has 4.2 affected (1 of
25 adults are HIV+)

GOALS OF WHO

 To combat HIV/AIDS, with the following targets

 Target A. To reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS
 Target B. Universal access to treatment for HIV/AIDS for all those who
need it.
 30 million HIV+ people use ART by 2020
GOALS OF MOH
By 2020
 90% know their HIV status.
 90% of HIV+ test are using ART.
 90% of ART users reach viral suppression.
 Commit to respond and mitigate HIV effect.
CONCLUSIVELY

 We recommend that more researches shall be done concerning

HIV/AIDS so that;
-To find simpler ways of preventing the transmission of HIV
-To find the cure for HIV
-Also to search for behavior awareness on HIV/AIDS
