Agency Mission

• “The mission of Healthy Start CORPS is to

enhance the perinatal service system in Robeson
County while strengthening community
empowerment.”(“Healthy Start Corps,” 2017)
Core Values & Ethics

• Values and Ethics are represented in Goals, Primary of which are:

• Providing mothers with case management services for up to 24
months after birth.
1. Decrease rate of low birth weight babies.
2. Increase prenatal care in the first there months of pregnancy
3. Improve outreach and recruitment of new clients
History

• Began in 1991 as a demonstration program

• Only had 15 sites
• Today: helps families in urban and rural settings
• 105 locations in 39 states
Need: Fatherhood Initiative Assistance

• Helps teach fathering and relationship skills, self caring skill,

mentoring, and provides them with community resource referrals
• Healthy Start is more focused on the mother aspect and has fewer
opportunities to assist fathers
Future Direction for this Agency

• Continue to recruit new members into the program
