What is Flipped Classroom?
• Wikipedia:
– A form of blended learning in which students
learn content online by watching video lectures,
usually at home, and homework is done in class
with teachers and students discussing and solving
questions.
– Interaction between a teacher and student is
more personalized - guidance
What is Flipped Classroom?
• An INVERSION of the traditional Classroom,
where students are introduces to new
material and vocabulary OUTSIDE of class via a
short online video (typically a presentation the
teacher recorded), then the skills will be
applied INSIDE the classroom
This is the model of a Flipped
Classroom

I believe…
• Flipped Classroom is a tool of an Outcomes Based
Education (OBE)
Spady (1990): OBE as a model of education that make
students demonstrate what they “know, are able to
do, or are like as a result of their education.”
Remember!

• You can TELL learners what they need to

know very fast;
• But, they will forget what you TELL them
even faster.

In a nutshell…

“The teacher is NOT a sage on the

stage but a guide on the side.”

IT’S NOT WHAT TEACHERS TEACH,

IT’S WHAT LEARNERS LEARN
