1. Double-click the file “OracleBITools10gWin.exe” . It will open up

the dialogue box as shown below.

2. Click “Browse” and select “Desktop”. Click “OK” and then

“Unzip”. This will extract all the files to a folder named “Disk1” on
your desktop.

3. Double-click the file “setup.exe” in Desktop>Disk1>Install. It will

bring up the window as shown below:

4. Double-click the file “setup.exe” in Desktop>Disk1>Install. It will

bring up the window as shown below. Click “Next”

5. Make a note of the default values (Destination) , they will be

required later. Click “Next”.

6. Select “Custom” , click “Next”

7. Un-Check all options except for

“Oracle Discoverer Desktop 10.1.2.0.0”, click “Next”

8. Click “Install”

9. Installation shall begin. Wait for Installation to complete.

2. Setting up Discoverer Desktop

1. Copy the file “TNSNAMES.ora” to the folder:

<Destination Path as noted during Installation Step 5>\network\admin

2. Copy the files “dev1.dbc” and “dev2.dbc” to the folder:

<Destination Path as noted during Installation Step 5>\network\admin

3. Create an “Environment Variable” as below

a. Right click the “My Computer” icon on your desktop, choose
“Properties”

b. Click the “Advanced” tab

c. Click the button named “Environment Variables”

d. In the “System Variables” section, click “New”

e. Enter the following details :

i. Variable Name: FND_SECURE
ii. Variable Value: <Destination Path noted during Inst. Step 5>\network\admin

f. Click “OK”

4. Default all Discoverer formats to “Arial Unicode MS”

a. Login to Discoverer

b. When prompted to “Create a workbook / Open an existing workbook” , click

“Cancel”

c. Open the “Tools” menu, click on “Options”

d. Go to the “Formats” tab.

e. In the “Default Formats” section, for each item (i.e. Data Format, Heading
Format, Sheet Title Format, Total Format & Exception Format) , Click
“Change”.

f. Change the font to “Arial Unicode MS”

5. Launch REGEDIT and open the following Registry Key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
+ SOFTWARE
+ ORACLE
+ KEY_<Destination Name noted during Inst. Step 5>
+ NLS_LANG

6. Check if it matches the details given below, if not then please

enter the details manually.

Installation and Setup Completed

You may now launch Oracle Discoverer Desktop from your Start
Menu as below:
