SITEMASTER TEST
INSTRUMENT
Refresher Course
Conducted by:
TI TEAM
NETCOM CONSULTANTS
Objective :
• To provide additional knowledge in using the Site Master
Test Equipment
• To provide additional knowledge in analyzing test results,
faults interpretation and fault clearing.
• To provide attendees with an updated guide in handling
fault/alarms encountered on site.
• To further enhance the site engineers skills in using
these equipment for their trouble shooting activity.
COURSE OUTLINE
1. Introduction
2. Prerequisites
2.1 Documentation
2.2 Equipment for Checking Antenna Systems
3. Checking the Installation
4. Calibrating the Antenna Tester
4.1 Selecting Frequency Range
4.2 Performing Calibration
4.3 Entering Cable Parameters
5. Performing DTF Tests
5.1 Connecting DTF Test Setup
5.2 Testing Feeder Installation
5.3 Measuring Feeder Length
6. Naming a DTF Measurement
2.1 Documentation
• Site Installation Documentation or (ATP document),
specific for the site.
• Anritsu Site Master User’s Guide, included in the
Antenna tester set. Or Bird analyzer etc.

5.3 Measuring Feeder Length
Steps:
1. Calibrate the Site master as per Calibration
procedure.
2. Connect the Test equipment to the antenna Jumper.
3. Press Marker key
4. Press M1 soft Key
5. Press the EDIT soft key and place the M1 marker
at the near end of the feeder using the
UP/DOWN arrow key. See figure below.
6. Press the BACK soft key and then the M2 soft key.
7.Press the EDIT soft key and place the M2 marker
at the far end of the feeder, using the UP/DOWN
arrow key. See figure below.
6. Naming a DTF Measurement
Note: If the cable type is not listed in the table above. Then the values
must be taken from the manufacturer’s specifications.
7. Calculating the Feeder Attenuation
Where :
A= length of jumper x attenuation of jumper from the table
B= length of feeder x attenuation of feeder from the table
C= length of outdoor jumper x attenuation of outdoor jumper
from the table.
8. Performing SWR Test on Passive Antenna Systems (No TMA)

9. Performing SWR Test on Antenna Systems with TMA
Note: The TMA need not be powered-up in this test setup as only the
downlink band is being tested.

*Example of not Acceptable VSWR* This portion Failed the
required limits of 1.4 VSWR
Note: If we can see this message below on the Screen. It
means that the Site master is not calibrated.
10. Naming an SWR Measurement
1. Find the cell ID in the Site Installation Documentation.
2. Read the label on the jumper measured.
3. Combine the measurement type, cell ID, and label
text and create a unique name.
