Beijing Introduce Tough Smoking Ban

A tough new smoking ban has been introduced in

China’s capital city Beijing. It coincides with World No
Tobacco Day and was welcomed by the World Health
Organization (WHO). The ban came into effect on June
the 1st and is the toughest anti-smoking law to be
implemented anywhere in China. It prohibits smoking in
all indoor public places, on public transport and in
workplaces. Unlike other bans in China, this one is backed
up by hefty fines for anyone lighting up indoors in public.
Restaurant will have a big part to play in implementing the
ban. Restaurant owners will face a heavy fine if they do
not stop people smoking. The public is also being
encouraged to report anyone breaking the law.
The WHO rewarded Beijing with a special
prize. A WHO spokesperson said: “We applauded
Beijing for its strong and determined leadership in
protecting the health of its people by making
public places smoke-free. We are delighted to be
formally recognising the Beijing Municipal
Government with a WHO World No Tobacco
Day Award.” China still has a long way to go to
get its population to stop smoking. The country is
the world’s largest tobacco producer and
consumer. There are around 300 million smokers
in China, which is almost the same size as the
population of the USA. More than one million
Chinese die each year from smoking-related

Self Awareness
In this coloumn, participants
choose diseases as the highest
because mostly participants think that
smokers in Indonesia will stop smoking
after they get diseases like lung cancer
or heart diseases. And participants also
think that self-awareness of smokers in
Indonesia is not good.
Based on the Theory
“Arround 616 million people all
over the world get cancer because
of smoking and A lof of smoker can
leave smoking habit or not smoking
anymore”said Poetra (2012)
Diseases
Because mostly smokers in
Indonesia will stop smoking after
they get deseases like lung or heart
deseases.
Health Promotion
When we give a health education about smoking
ban or the dangers of smoking, sometimes smokers
feel interested to ask about the impact of smoking,
what kind of the diseases, and others. Also when the
informant show the scary pictures of the diseases,
smokers will feel afraid.
Advices
To all smokers who can accept advices from
whoever sometimes they will realized about the
dangers of smoking. But in the fact, it’s very rarely
to find a kind of that smokers. Especially someone
who very difficult to accept advices from another
people.
Conclusion
So, to all smokers, sometimes the
dangerous diseases like lung cancer,
hard to breath, etc can give the
biggest affect to them.
But, for the self-awareness is very
minimum to change perspective
about the dangers of smoking to be
better perspective.

What do you think about SMOKING ??
In a cigarette many things that make the disease
caused by smoking or the danger of smoking for the
health of the body in general has been known by
every smoker. But they continue to do these bad
habits, even they tend to underestimate the
consequences of smoking. as quoted from
Netdoctor.co.uk and Buzzle, Thursday (7/7/2011) that
Increase the risk of stroke, heart attack, lung disease,
breast cancer, esophageal cancer, mouth cancer,
coronary heart disease (CHD), and Chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The most
dangerous substance in cigarettes is the nicotine.
Nicotine is what makes the smoker will be
addicted.
 In addition, the new regulations will also ban
some tobacco advertising in the country.
Thousands of supervisors were deployed to
implement new legislation that was actually
agreed upon by parliament in November
2014 but came into effect on June 1 The
smoking ban took place in all public places,
indoors, on public transport and at work.
 So I personally agree to the argument that
smoking ban like at Beijing especially ban in
all places as it has been done by Beijing in the
room, public transport and workplace.
Because smoke caused by smoking is very
disturbing for others. Although we only
smoke smokers inhale, but it can make us
become passive smokers. Passive smokers
according to Wikipedia is someone who
inhaling cigarette smoke from active
smokers.
 In Indonesia, every year over 400,000 people die from
various diseases related to smoking or about 2,000
people every day. Global Youth Tobacco Survey or
GYTS Indonesia mentions 24.5 percent of
Indonesian male teenagers are smokers (Kompas,
9/11/2007). This situation is very worrying. This
number is expected to continue to increase in line with
the increasing number of smokers who continue to
grow from year to year. The solution is given by
experts who are looking for an alternative so that
smokers can stop smoking. Limits Nicotine,
Hypnose Therapy and Character of Family include
the price of cigarette in market.
 The consumption of tobacco products on the one hand
is the personal right of each citizen. But on the other
hand, there is a public space that must be respected.
Community rights to inhale fresh air free from cigarette
smoke, should receive attention. When the use of
tobacco products has disturbed the order and disturbs
others, then the right of a person's clean air will begin to
be neglected. Although it is clear in article 2,
paragraph 1 and 2: PP. 109 of 2012 is stipulated on
the implementation of securing the use of tobacco
products in order not to endanger the health of
individuals, families, communities, and the
environment. So appreciate others who are also
around you andlove yourself because life is more
beautiful if healthy from now on.

Mr. Black has come to the clinic for a complaint
about his chest pain. He frequently felt the pain and had to go
back to the clinic for several times. He was very annoyed
with his pain. In previous consultations he has been warned
about his smoking but he never took it seriously. At this
moment he needed some pain killer to relieve his chest pain.
Give him some more information about health problems
associated to smoking so that he could be aware of it and
stop smoking instantly.
