information from the respondents
who supported this study.
Methodology
Description of the Respondents

The respondents of this study came

from Academia de San Ignacio de Loyola.
Specifically, the students of Grade 11 to
Grade 12 were the respondents of this
study. 144 respondents from the six
strands answered the survey
questionnaire and the data were

statistical treatment.
Methodology
Sampling Techniques
The respondents of this study were 144 out
of 227 students from Grade 11 and Grade 12 of
Academia de San Ignacio de Loyola during
Academic Year 2017-2018. To get the desired
number of respondents, the researchers used
Yamane’s’ Formula cited below. Fishbowl
technique was done and apply to select the 144
respondents.

Relationship of family business have significant

influence to the respondents in choosing their career or
path as the statistical treatment yielded to a chi-square
value of 106.21 with 33 degrees of freedom and this is
greater than the tabular value of 55.7585 in accord with
0.05 level.

Tabular Critical Value of Chi-Square

Summary of Findings
1. The 144 respondents were classified by
their demographic profile. In terms of
age it reveals that fifty-percent (50%) of
the respondents were 17 years old. On
the other hand, in terms of gender most
of the respondents were female which
is fifty-three point eight percent
(53.8%).
Summary of Findings
2. The 144 respondents identified what
family business do they have such as
industrial and infrastructure,
merchandising, manufacturing, services,
agricultural and fishery and others that
they needed to specify. In Industrial and
Infrastructure, there were 14. In
Merchandising, there were 42. In
Manufacturing, there were 21. In Services,
there were 48 and there were 19 in
Agricultural and Fishery.

3. The family business affects the career
decisions of the respondents in terms of
interest, influence of the parents,
employment of the future, and knowledge
and experience. These factors have
significant influence to the respondents in
choosing their career or path, as the
statistical treatment yielded to a chi-square
value of 106.21 with 33 degrees of
freedom and this is greater than the tabular
value of 55.7585 in accord with 0.05 level.
Conclusion
1. The hypothesis that there is no
significant relationship between the
influence of family business and the
career decisions of senior high
school students is ‘rejected’.
Recommendation
1. The parents should give support morally,
financially, and academically to their
children.

2. The family should not force the child to

take the career path that they do not
like.
Recommendation
3. The students must have right or
freedom to choose their own track or
career path.
