DIFFERENT SIZES OF AGRICULTURAL LAND: A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN KUSHTIA DISTRICT AND NATIONAL LEVEL. Introduction Background of the study • Bangladesh is a country dependent mainly on agriculture. Out of land area of 14.96 million hectares, the total cultivated area of the country is 7.97 million hectares and its cropping intensity is 172.64 percent (BBS, 2008) which is the highest in the world. • The economy of Bangladesh remains predominantly agricultural. The economic development of country is mainly based on agricultural. • The direct contribution of agricultural to GDP is 20.87 percent (MoF, 2008) • Its indirect contribution including agro-based industries to GDP in much higher. Agriculture & GDP GDP From Agriculture in Bangladesh increased to 10117.30 BDT Million in 2017 from 9922.80 BDT Million in 2016 GDP From Agriculture in Bangladesh averaged 8747.38 BDT Million from 2006 until 2017 GDP have reached an all time high of 10117.30 BDT Million in 2017 Contribution of Agriculture Why KUSHTIA? Among all districts of Bangladesh Kushtia is one of the most promising and potential districts in agricultural sector Main sources of income Agriculture- 51.71% non-agricultural laborer 5.58%, industry 3.99%, commerce 17.61%, transport and communication 4.03%, service 7.32%, construction 1.54%, religious service 0.15%, rent and remittance 0.40% and others 7.67% The region's chief crops are Rice, Wheat, Jute, Sugar, Potatoes, Tobacco and Betel. Main crops of Bangladesh grows in this district profoundly with the blessings of intense land fertility and of Padma river. Objective • In my thesis I am inclined to show and evaluate the contribution of land return of Kushtia in aspects of national level. Along with that, I also aim to assess all factors of agricultural products, it’s demand, contribution in economy, state of farmers previous- present years and so on. My objective is to highlight the prospects and potentiality of the cultivated land, future of crops, scope of grow new crops, availability and requirement of technology through obtaining answers of my relatable questions from the farmers and household. Literature Review This thesis paper will review the existing literature on return of different size of agricultural land in; comparative study between Kushtia in aspects of national level and provides the theoretical background to know the influential factors of higher production and future development tools which will shed some lights on the present and future prospects of agricultural land return in terms of national height. Evaluation of productivity of different sized land will be highlighted of this district comparing to the national level and reaching to the conclusion regarding this. Methodology Primary and Secondary both types of data will be used. Both Quantitative and Qualitative methods will be implied. A proper questionnaire will be formatted. Required data will be collected through face to face interview of farmers and households. Economic model, Mathematical model will be implied if required.
