INTRODUCTION TO REAL-TIME SYSTEM:

 What is real-time system?

It considers a time bound within which the response

should be delivered

Failure to meet the timing constraint for a response can

cause different consequenses
NEED OF REAL TIME SYSTEM:-
Example:

RADAR

Stock exchange
WHAT IS DEADLINE?

 The point in time at which transaction

must be completed
TIMING PROPERTIES:-
Release time
Deadline

Slack factor

Worst case execution time

Run time

Weight
TYPES OF TRANSACTIONS:-

 Hard real-time

 Soft real-time

 Firm real-time
Hard real-time
CONFUSION ABOUT REAL-TIME
PROBLEMS:-

 Real-time is not necessarily synonyms with

fast

 System interacting with human and waiting for a

person’s response
REAL-TIME SCHEDULING:-
Goals to be considered in scheduling a real-time system:
VARIOUS SCHEDULING ALGORITHMS FOR
REAL-TIME SYSTEM:-
CONCLUSION:-

For a given set of tasks the general scheduling

problem asks for an order according to which
the tasks are to be executed such that various
constraints are satisfied. For a given set of real-
time tasks, we are asked to devise a feasible
allocation/ schedule.The release time, the
deadline and the execution time of the tasks
are some of the parameters that should be
considered for scheduling.
