1.00 m Median and 1.50 m hard shoulders also be included in this project.Widening of existing
C D work &P wall also including in this project Road Design and Specification.

Formation of road:-

The formation width of road has been widen from exiating average width 10.0 m to 20.0 m
width.

Over earth work 210 mm thick GSB of grading III material has been proposed on widen
porsion soaked CBR of soil has been found as 5.00%

TESTING OF CONCRETE

CUBES COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH:-

Objective
the strength of concrete mixes according to desired ages of concretes (Normal
age would be (168+/-2 (7days), and 672+/-4hrs(28 days)). , where the strength would
be used for quality controls purposes.
Apparatus:-

Shovel, containers 30cmx15cmx15cm, big tray, slump rod, standard casting mould 15x15x15cm
dimension, vibrating hammer, needle vibrator size 2inches dia, compressive testing machine.

PAVEMENT

PAVEMENT COMPOSITION:-

Pavement is constructed using “Typical Cross-section” and “Plan and Profile”

Drawings.
Types of Pavement:-

Rigid Pavement:-
A rigid pavement is constructed from cement concrete or reinforced concrete slabs. Grouted
concrete roads are in the category of semi-rigid pavements.

Fig:-Pavement
Flexible Pavement:-

Flexible pavement can be defined as the one consisting of a mixture of asphaltic or bituminous
material and aggregates placed on a bed of compacted granular material of appropriate quality in
layers over the subgrade. Water bound macadam roads and stabilized soil roads with or without
asphaltic toppings are examples of flexible pavements.

COATING OF BITUMINOUS:-

a) Prime coating :-
A prime coat is an application of a low viscosity asphalt to a granular
base in preparation for an initial layer (or surface course layer) of asphalt. The purpose of
the prime coat is; to coat and bond loose material particles on the surface of the base, to
harden or toughen the base surface to provide a work platform for construction
equipment, to plug capillary voids in the base course surface to prevent migration of
moisture, and to provide adhesion between the base course and succeeding asphalt
course. After applying the prime coat, it must cure for a minimum of 48-72 hours before
asphalt is placed, with no rain in the forecast.

b).Tack coating:-
Tack coats are a vital component of an asphalt pavement's structural
system as they bond the multiple asphalt lifts into one monolithic layer. Poor tack coat
application results in poor bonding of the asphalt layers

C).Seal coat:-
a final coat of bituminous material applied during construction to a
bituminous macadam or concrete for sealing the surface of the pavement.
