Bearing Rings
Project Goal:
• To construct a non-obstructive prototype of
an automated centering device which
accurately centers bearing rings on a
magnetic chuck
Background:
• Timken employs a hard-turning/grinding
process to finish OD and ID of bearing rings.
• Bearing rings are secured with a magnetic
chuck and must be precisely centered on the
chuck within 50 µm before machining
