VOLCANOES:

C. Based on location
GROUP 3
Continental Volcanoes
 Theterm 'Continental Volcanoes' as it applies to
the area of volcanos can be defined as 'In the
typical 'continental' environment, volcanoes are
located in unstable, mountainous belts that have
thick roots of granite or granite like rock.
Submarine Volcanoes
 Underwater volcanoes, also called submarine volcanoes, are
commonly found on the ocean floor. As with those on land,
some are active and others are not. In shallow water, the
eruption of a submarine volcano may spew steam and debris
above the surface of the water. Most underwater volcanoes are
at such a depth that they can only be detected with proper
equipment and eruptions in deep water may not even disturb
the ocean surface.
Subglacial Volcanoes
 A subglacial volcano is a volcanic form produced by eruptions
beneath a glacier or beneath the surface of a lake within a
glacier. The term ‘subglacial eruption’ indicates any eruption
which occurs entirely beneath ice, although the erupted
material may eventually breach the ice surface.
