 Introduction of Cordyceps Militaris
Cordyceps is a type of fungal species also named as the Ascomycotina or Claviceps Purpurea.
its scientific name is Cordyceps Militaris, also known as Cordyceps. Its natural production is
very limited throughout the whole world. it consists of 2 complex parts, the grass part and
sclerotia (i.e. insect body parts). During winter, the fungus will start to grow inside the
insect larvae as a parasite, which absorbs its nutrition which will cause the fungus to spread
throughout the whole body of the insect till its death. In the summer, seedlings will grow from
the corpse, and it will be ready for harvest during summer solstice. Chinese medicine believes
that it can protects the lungs, nourishes the kidneys and spine. It is also believed to have anti-
phlegm and hemostasis properties, it can also provide protection against chronic fatigue and
phrenic patients. it is the only Chinese Herb Medicine which can regulate the balance of Yin
and Yang at the same time.

1.Cordyceps Militaris

The mycelium of Cordyceps Militaris is a kind of seed capsule, which is a clone of the pupa. When it
matures it will form ascospores (reproductive units), emitting the spores which will spread with the
wind and the spores will fall in suitable worms, in which the mycelium will began. The mycelium will
constantly develop and spread in the body of the insect until the whole pupae is infected. During
infection it will decompose the pupae, using it as nutrition for it's growth and development until the
whole pupae is totally decomposed.

2. Sporocarp

In general, when the mycelium of

Cordyceps sinensis is decomposed
into various tissues and organs, it's
development will enter a new stage.
The mycelium will start to reproduce.
It will twist itself out of the pupa's
head, chest or tail, forming orange
yellow or orange red rod-shaped
stromata (sporocarp).

 Cordyceps Militaris Species
Cordyceps Militaris was firstly discovered and
named in Jilin Province in 1958,
scientists have identified that it belongs to the same
family as Cordyceps Sinensis. Production is mostly
in Yunnan (Kunming, An Ning, Jiangchuan), Jilin
(Antu, Yongji), Liaoning (Shenyang), Inner
Mongolia (Zhelimu Alliance). it is born in pupae's of
wing insects in coniferous and mixed forest. If its
cultivated manually using silkworm pupaes, the
pharmacodynamics effects will be the same or better
compared to the wild species.

Compared with Cordyceps sinensis, Cordyceps Militaris have some
distinct advantages :

 Cordyceps Militaris Pharmacological Actions
Domestic and international numerous scientists study found that cordycepin has many
biological activities, main Application (Application) : anticancer agent, antiviral agent,
antioxidant, ribonucleic acid inhibitors, biological active substances, antifungal agent, etc

Currently Cordycepin is the only nucleoside anticancer natural antibiotics, it does not only have
remarkable anticancer activity, but it also has many other functions. Modern scientific research
shows that cordycepin has antibacterial antiviral nucleoside substance. Using Cordyceps tritiated
hormone test proof; cordycepin can penetrate into RNA, but cannot penetrate into DNA. Cordycep
can change it's cells into 3`-ATP, but it's DNA dependant L5178Y cells had no effect on DNA
polymerase α and β dynamism. But the nuclear poly (a) polymerase has a strong inhibitory effect, so
it will inevitably lead to the mRNA maturation disorder, affecting protein synthesis, the above
mechanism and Cordyceps prime antitumor, antiviral related activites. Cordycepin of nuclear poly
adenylate polymerase has a strong inhibitory effect, in DNA transcription, RNA processing to
mature mRNA disorders, it can inhibit the growth of various cancer cells, for a variety of malignant
solid tumor has a strong inhibitory effect; through inducing apoptosis and inhibiting the growth of
leukemia cells; it can inhibit the synthesis of viral RNA; the inhibitory effect of Bacillus subtilis and
Mycobacterium tuberculosis avium were; of HIV-I virus also antiviral activity and killing effect.

*Cordycepin (3'Deoxyadenosine) : Resist virus, resist
bacteria, inhibit tumor growth, preventing the fusion of RNA and DNA.
•Cordycepic acid (D-Mannitol)：Prevent cerebral thrombosis,
cerebral hemorrhage, kidney failure.
*Adenosine : Increase virus and bacteria resistance, inhibit tumor growthand
prevent thrombosis， Removes surface spots, and has anti-aging properties.
*Cordyceps polysaccharide：Improves immunity, anti-aging, strengthening and
restoring the body, protects the heart and liver, anticonvulsion.
*Ergosterol： inhibit tumor growth, anti aging
