 Overview

• T5220 is a low-end server, M4000 & M5000 are midrange

servers.

• Performance: M5000 > M4000 > T5220

Price: T5220 < M4000 < M5000

• For Huawei M2000 product, this three kind of servers will

replace Sun Netra240, V890 and E4900 from 2009.

T5220 is a low-end server. For M2000 product, it is used for small

capacity networks which contains less than 30 equivalent NEs.

LED or Button Icon Description

The Locator LED enables you to find a particular system. The LED is
activated using one of the following methods:
• The ALOM CMT command setlocator on.
Locator LED and • Manually press the Locator button to toggle the Locator LED on or off.
button This LED provides the following indications:
• Off – Normal operating state.
• Fast blink – System received a signal as a result of one of the methods
previously mentioned, indicating that the system is active.
Service
If on, indicates maintenance service is required.
Required LED
• Off – Indicates that the system is not running in its normal state. System
power might be on or in standby mode.
• Steady on – Indicates that the system is powered on and is running in its
Power OK normal operating state.
LED • Fast blink – Indicates the system is running at a minimum level in
standby and is ready to be quickly returned to full function.
• Slow blink – Indicates that a normal transitory activity is taking place.
For example, the system is running or booting.
The recessed Power button toggles the system on or off.
• If the system is powered off, press once to power on.
Power button • If the system is powered on, press once to initiate a graceful system shutdown.
• If the system is powered on, press and hold for 4 seconds to initiate an
emergency shutdown.

Power Supply • Off – Indicates a steady state, no service action is required.

Fault LED • Steady on – Indicates that a power supply failure event has been
acknowledged and a service action is required on at least one PSU.
• Off – Indicates a steady state, no service action is required.
Overtemp LED • Steady on – Indicates that a temperature failure event has been
acknowledged and a service action is required.
• Off – Indicates a steady state, no service action is required.
Fan Fault LED • Steady on – Indicates that a fan failure event has been acknowledged and a
service action is required on at least one of the fan modules.

Note: The USB node string (storage) changes based on the kind of device that is connected to
the USB port. For example, if you connect a keyboard, the storage string changes to keyboard.

• Maintenance Feature
As a substitute of Netra 240, it is much easier to operate.
Major features:
1. Disk driver, power supply, fan module can be replaced online without
service interrupt.
2. Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) is preinstalled as firmware,
enables people to connect to service processor (SP), monitor and control the
server over an Ethernet connection (supports SSH), or by using a dedicated
serial port.

• Operation in ILOM
We can login ILOM by serial port, web and SSH. Below is an example of
SSH login.

Commands can be executed under sc>, such as console, reset, resetsc,

poweron, poweroff, showlogs, refer to attachment.

Switch between different status

By commands, we can switch system status. Refer to Figure 5.

• Operation Features
As midrange servers, operations in M4000 and M5000 are more
flexible:
• 1. M4000 and M5000 can be divided into independent domains. Each
domain can run an individual instance of the Solaris OS.
• 2. Hard disk driver, fan module, PCI card, power supply are hot replacement
components.
• 3. The eXtended System Control facility unit (XSCF) is preinstalled. The unit
operates with an independent processor (SP) and can performance
operation and maintenance procedure to the server and domain.

• Two Ethernet ports are integrated in M4000/M5000 XSCF, which can be
connected by SSH, telnet and web.
• One serial port is also integrated and can be connected by HyperTerminal.

• After login to XSCF, the user can execute some commands according to his
account privileges. The basic types of user account privileges controlled by
XSCF are listed below:
· System administrator
· Domain administrator
· Operator
