• Exercise in the outdoor air imparts

vitality to the blood and nervous system.

This vitality will be
superior to that
achieved from stale,
recirculated air or that
found in smoky

This is particularly noted in sealed buildings with centrally-
controlled, mechanical ventilation. Associated conditions include
allergies, infections, Legionnaire’s disease, and worsening of
asthma because of air-borne irritants. This highlights the
importance of breathing fresh, clean air.

using only the lower
portion of their

“In order to have good blood, we must
breathe well. Full, deep inspirations of pure
air which fill the lungs with oxygen, purify the
blood. They impart to it a bright color, and
send it, a life giving current, to every part of
the body. A good respiration soothes the
nerves; it stimulates the appetite and renders
digestion more perfect; and it induces sound
refreshing sleep.”

Ellen G. White, Ministry of Healing, p. 272

• Stretch your arms high above your
head.
• Breathe in slowly with mouth closed.
• Expand chest as much as possible
and continue to breathe in. Take one
more whiff of air.

slowly bending over. Cough to get last
bit of air out.
• Repeat 5-10 every morning.

Dr. Mervyn Hardinge, dean emeritus of the LLU
School of Public Health, states that posture can be
improved.

• He gives these five

where carbon dioxide,
carbon monoxide and other
pollutants can interfere with
normal oxygen availability.
