Introduction
Supercapacitors - devices capable of managing high power compared to typical batteries [1].
Perovskites oxides (ABO3) - stable structure, high-temperature sustainability, catalytic activity and crucial role in solid fuel cells, SOFC,
as an electrolyte [2]. Instead of widely used noble metal oxides, the use of perovskite oxides has the potential to enhance the stability of the
supercapacitor.
Strontium-substituted lanthanum cobaltite, La1−xSrxCoO3−δ (LSCO) - promising candidate for electrode materials for this purpose [3].
One possible way to improve perovskite properties is the impregnation by ruthenium oxide.
Ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP) - simple method to prepare sub-µm particles of metals and oxides by atomizing the precursors, as well
as homogeneous thin films of various oxides and sulphides [4].
Two different kinds of lanthanum-based perovskite were prepared, La0.6Sr0.4CoO3 (LSCO) and LSCO/RuO2, through one-step USP
synthesis and subsequent hydrothermal impregnation.
Experimental
• La0.6Sr0.4CoO3 was synthesized through a simple one-step USP; resonant frequency was 2.5 MHz; solution of La, Sr and Co nitrates were used as precursors.
After thermal decomposition of transported aerosol in the furnace, the LSCO powder was collected on an electrostatic precipitator.
• USP-prepared LSCO powder was suspended in water and RuCl3 solution was added at pH 10 (NaOH adjusted). The resulted mixture was centrifuged and
washed with water and ethanol followed by drying at 150 °C for 3 h. The black-colored powder is labelled as LSCO/RuO2.
• Electrochemical behavior was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge/discharge (G-
C/DC) tests. While, morphology was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
