Best Practices
 In case of any Equipment/Train fault, Before Resetting, Understand why the
equipment is fault by seeing trends of level and permeate flow. E.g. Train
level not reducing, Analyze the problem is in equipment or there is any issue
hydraulically.

1) In presence of Operator operate the valve or Pump and find out for any issue
in valve or pump itself.

2) Analyze the trends to find out any issues in Pressure, TMP, Flow and Level to
know at which step it is fault.

Best Practices…
 Best way to find out any abnormal operation
Frequently check the trends of past 8 hours, easily you can make out if
something is abnormal.
Like UF Inlet and Equalization Tank levels, Permeability/TMP, Chemical tank
levels
 All 581 pumping, UF outlet flow and 592B Outlet flow set points must be
almost synchronous to maintain Linear level in 592B.

 Ensure that all the Train Drain valve in auto mode even during Shutdown.

 Don’t Ignore any Alarms.

 Avoiding two Trains out of service, E.G. Cassette lifting and MC Cleaning.
(Higher priority for MC Cleaning)

 Reduce time of stopping UF trains by following to attend fault Immediately on

priority basis. Valves fault, Pumps fault due to air lock

 Utilize UF operation Helper Instead of calling TSE operator in Day shifts to

Release air valves.

Information

 UF Operation in ‘n-1’ flow set points is only for MC/RC cleaning and for
maximum of 12 hours only

 Report low Permeability and Maximum filtration time alarms

 Report Trains Back pulse starting with higher unusual Recovery Rate.

IMPROVEMENTS

 Changing n and n-1 set points frequently to be Automated

 Compressor failure should start another compressor automatically

 Alternative service water line from 592B

 SECOMAM Availability, MC done on approximate concentration

 581 to UF Flow automation based on UF inlet level.
