Solution-Driven Approach to Design
To move quickly we start from what
we have…
Core Product
Standard processes based
on best practice
Explain the options and
challenge deviations
Advising and configuring, not
documenting requirements to
deliver a custom build

Configuration versus Customization
Keep it simple, and add complexity
later if you really need it…
Products are designed to
be inherently more
flexible
Solution is easier to adapt
while live
Core product evolves
rapidly and upgrades are
regular

Rapid Time to Value
3 Standard processes are
explained and configuration
3 adjusted iteratively in
facilitated workshops

4 Data is uploaded,
1 Customer is introduced to training performed
the product functionality and and the system
asked to provide information goes LIVE
needed to configure the
software (e.g. via 2 Oracle performs initial
questionnaires) configuration based on customer
input

Iterative and Incremental Optimization
Doorway to Success…Building on an initial set of essential functionality over multiple releases

Incremental, Multi-Release Implementation

Incremental Release

Incremental Release Ongoing Solution

Initial Deployment Refinements
Additional
• Additional
Standard • Additional Modules, etc.
Functionality +
• Setups reports
• Bus. Rule Config. • New Release
• Integrations functionality
• Data Loads Advantages of Incremental Approach
• Localizations • Benefit from early access to essential functionality
• Incorporate complementary functions over time
• Continuous refinement increases ROI

Project Management
Key difference from traditional approach is depth of management
detail…
• Principles of Good Project Management still apply
• Project Management scaled to reflect most significant
activities
• Adhere to standard operating procedures and practices
commensurate with size and complexity of the project
