B.Tech Programme

Department of Mechanical Engineering
 Programme is of 4 years duration with 8 semesters.
 Examination system:
 Internal evaluation : 50 Marks (Theory courses)

 End semester examination (3 hours) : 100 Marks (Theory courses)

 Eligibility for examination

 Attendance: 75% (minimum)

 Internal Marks : 45% (Minimum)

Credit System:
 Minimum 180 academic credits plus 2 additional pass/fail credits for
the award of the degree.
 Maximum credits offered per semester is 28.
 One credit for 1 lecture hour and 1 credit for tutorial.
 One credit for laboratory classes.
 Credits are earned only if get passed in the examination.
 Activity Points
 Minimum 100 activity points for the award of the degree ( 2 credits will
be awarded)
Credit System:
Faculty Advisor(s):
 To guide, help and monitor their academic progress in a timely
manner.
Course registration and Enrollment:
 Students have to register for the courses appearing in a semester.
 Late registration is permitted or will attract late fee.
Summer Course: (up to 4th semester only)
 For those who don't have minimum required credits.
 Minimum 50% attendance and more than 35% in Internal evaluation.
 75% attendance is mandatory in summer course for ESE.
Internal Evaluation: 50 Marks
 2 tests of 20 marks each (40 marks)

 Assignments with a maximum mark of 10

Laboratory evaluation : 100 Marks

 Seminars and Projects:

 Course committee and class committees

Eligibility for End Semester Examination:
 Minimum 45% marks & 75% attendance in the internal
evaluation.
Grade and Grade Points: SGPA and CGPA
 Revaluation and Grade improvement:
 Grade cards
 Leave of absence
 Prior sanction from Faculty advisor/HOD is mandatory.
 Leave form/letter must be submitted at the standard format
available with the department.
 No unauthorized absence is permitted.
 Leave due to medical reasons.
