Effective Language is Direct &
Conversational
 Speaking orally or delivering a speech
involves a live audience where speaker in
such circumstances should have a
speech that is instantly intelligible. (
Simple words should be used to enable
your audience to comprehend quickly
and easily.
Effective Language is
APPROPRIATE
 Be considerate of both your audience
and the people you talk about.
 Measure the degree of formality of the
speech occasion.
 Be careful with your choice of words.
Effective Oral Language is
VIVID
 Colorful language that appeals to the
different senses enlivens the speech
through the use of Imagery. ( Word
pictures produce powerful feelings in the
listener’s mind)
Assignment:
Interview family members and ask
them to help you in making ( 1-5) list
of your proverbs. Classify each
proverb. Pick one proverb and write a
3 to 5 sentences about this.
