How will you benefit from a Mock
Interview?
Much of the hiring decision happens during the interview,
and the only way to become a stronger interviewer is to
practice! Mock interviews, therefore, provide a “dress
rehearsal” for you to polish your interviewing skills. They
are designed to help you:
• Evaluate and improve your interviewing style.
• Reduce anxiety and increase confidence before a
professional interview.
• Obtain feedback regarding the impression you project
to an interviewer.
What are the guidelines for the Mock
Interview?
• The mock interview will be from 9am to 4pm
• Sycip-Velayo Multipurpose Hall, AMV College of Accountancy.
• The mock interview is an experiential learning activity
EXCLUSIVELY for AMV College of Accountancy students only.
• One interview session will last for 20-25 minutes only (15
minutes for the interview and 5-10 minutes for the HR
personnel to provide feedback to the student) as the allotted
time may not be enough to accommodate all the students.
• Feedback is expected to be given to each student immediately
after the interview.
• Freebies and/or brochures will be distributed in the waiting
area.
What are the guidelines for the Mock
Interview?
• While waiting, there may be video presentations
about the participating companies.
• No recruitment/job placement of any kind.
• Participating companies may take with them the
resumes of students. They have the liberty to invite the
students to undergo the company’s regular recruitment
process AFTER the mock interview.
• Organization officers and student volunteers will
ensure orderly flow of student traffic in and outside of
the venue. Kindly approach them for assistance.
What should you bring?
• Resume (at least 10 copies for the drop-ins)
• Notebook and pen
How to prepare?
• Look professional—neat, clean, and well
groomed. You are expected to come in
business/corporate attire.
– It is advisable to keep fashion accessories to a
minimum, to avoid wearing strong scents, and to turn
off devices such as cell phones and electronic
organizers.
• Greet each person with respect and
professionalism. When you shake hands, make
eye contact and smile. Handshakes should be
firm but not aggressive; try to match the grip of
the interviewer.

the interviewer invites you to do so.

be able to express them to the interviewer.
Behavioral Based Interviewing
• Behavioral interviewing is a technique used
by employers in which the questions asked
assist the employer in making predictions
about a potential employee’s future
success based on past behaviors. In
behavior-based interviews, candidates are
asked to give specific examples of when
they demonstrated particular behaviors or
skills.
Behavioral Based Interviewing
Sample behavioral based interview questions:
• Describe a situation in which you were able to use persuasion to
successfully convince someone to see things your way.
• Tell me about a time when you had to adapt to successfully work
with a wide variety of people, situations, or environments.
• Describe a time you were faced with problems or stresses that
tested your coping skills.
• Give an example of a time in which you had make a decision quickly.
• Give me an example of an important goal which you had set in the
past and tell me about your success in reaching it.
• Describe the most significant or creative presentation which you
have had to complete.

Additional Tips
• Treat your Mock Interview as though it is the real thing
• You may record (audio) your interview! Just inform the
recruitment representative beforehand.
• Ask for clarification. Seeking a clarification on a question is
much better than providing an answer that does not match the
question. Useful ways to ask for clarification are "Could you please
clarify your question?" or "Could you please be more specific?", or
"Could you please re-phrase the question?“
• Ask for a business card or ensure that you have the
interviewer's name, title, and email address so that you can
send a thank you letter.
