Forensics is the process of using scientific

knowledge for collecting, analysing, and
presenting evidence to the courts.

The word forensics means “to bring to the

court.”.

 The "Eureka" legend of Archimedes can be

considered an early account of the use of
forensic science.

 The first published work relating to forensic

science was written in 1798 by Francois-
Emanuel Fodere (France).

 Jack the ripper is probably the most
controversial and consequential serial
killer ever.
 His identity is unknown after being
mentioned for the first time in 1888 in
England
 His is still a subject of intrigue and
mystery to every forensic investigator.

Itis estimated that he was responsible for
the deaths of over 70 women mostly by
dissection.
Some of the organs of the victims were
missing suggesting that he was a skilled
surgeon.
This created a dreadful fear for surgeons
and doctors in general in England.

The Love Bug
 This is the first and most
destructive computer virus
created .
 It was created by a Computer
science student by the name
Guzman in Philippines.
 The Love Bug
 The virus was in the form of an e-mail with the
subject ILOVEU
 Who wouldn’t want to open an e-mail with the
subject I LOVE U!!
 On clicking, the virus entered the address book
of the victim and spread to all of his contacts
thus resulting in a chain reaction.
 In May 2000,there was no law no cyber law and
hence Guzman couldn’t be convicted of any
crime.
