Mining(Unversity of Chile).

• Master in Minerals Economics.

• Former Lecturer in differents Courses At National Unversity of

Trujillo. Environmental and Mining Engineer undergraduate

students.

• División Teniente - Codelco,

• Antamina, Las Bambas – MMG

• Consorcio Minero Horizonte

• Cementos Selva – Hochschild,

• Yanacocha, Toromocho & Odebrecht.

 What I expect from you?

• That you learn and enjoy the unit.

• That you ask as many questions as you want:

• I don´t have all the answer but we can figure it out together.

• There are no stupid questions but probably some stupid

answers!

• That you talk me with much confidence.

 Important things to be noted (1)

• For intensive units it would be preferable that questions are asked on

the classroom
– Questions such as “I did X for my project is this correct?” are not
valid ones, please think harder before asking me to solve the
problems for which you will be graded
– Similarly questions like “Can you give a look to our project?” are
not right (introduces unfairness)
• I do not provide mark distributions to students, this is not a competition
with the rest but the idea is that you learn irrespective of how the
others do
 Important things to be noted (2)

• If you have always got “High Distinction” up to this point in the

Course this does not mean that you have to keep it on this unit.
– This isn´t a difficult course.
– This is not something I grant, it is just simply something that
you earn and if everyone gets it then the degree has little
value.
• It can always be possible that the whole group is packed
with excellent students in which case everyone will get
high distinction.
 Important things to be noted (3)

• I’m not here to be your friend but to help you in your learning
– I can be friendly and we may even become friends outside the
classroom, but that friendliness does not translate into better marks
– Evaluate should not be used to penalise the lecturer if we don’t like
him
• I do not have answers for all the questions
– Sometimes good judgement is the best answer
– I’m human and I make mistakes too
• Finally, please don’t add me on facebook, whatsapp or whatever other
social media app. This are politics of the university, I’m really sorry :(
