SLAB ON GRADE PREPARATION
Lay-out Preparation
 Verify and establish lot boundaries to ensure areas between lots.

 Establish the location of main structures on the lot.

 Provide guidelines for excavation to ensure proper alignment and


grading.
CONSTRUCTION OF
SLAB ON GRADE
Excavation
 After lay-out was final proceed with excavation.
 Make sure that all depths and widths of excavation were correct
based on the plans.
 Provide excavation for Sewer Pipes simultaneous with
excavation for TS1, TS2 and TS3 wherein sewer pipe must have
a slope of 1%.

SOG Forms
 After settling all necessary excavations, proceed with setting and
installation of forms for the SOG (Slab on grade). Make sure that all
forms are properly squared, aligned and level. Level all forms using a
transit level.

 Consider change in elevation of porch, living area, service area
and toilet and bath.
 After ensuring all line, grade and level, provide shoring on all
sides to ensure alignment.
CONSTRUCTION OF SLAB ON GRADE
INSTALLATION OF PLUMBING ROUGH INS (SEWER PIPES)
 Proceed with installation of plumbing roughing ins. PVC Pipe for Vent and
Sewer Pipes. (Refer to list of approved materials provided by the MDC for the
brands and classification of materials to be used).
 Make sure that all Plumbing Roughing Ins are installed according to approved
plans.
 Ensure correct location, slope (1%) and direction of pipes and fittings.
CONSTRUCTION OF SLAB ON GRADE
Gravel Bedding
 Proceed to compaction using Plate Compactor to improve compaction.
 Install Gravel Bed according to thickness required (50mm). Gravel bed
should be tamped and level. Use 1" gravel. Do not use pea gravel or sieve
left-overs of sand or concrete from demolition.
 Polyethylene sheet must be spread across the area. It must be according to
plans.

Fabrication and Installation of Reinforcing Bars
(Re-Bars)
 Install re-bars according to plans and specification. Also, provide
10mm dia. dowels spaced @ 600mm O.C. for CHB wall. Refer to
Structural plan fro proper bending and location.
 Ensure correct sizing of bars, bar spacing and configuration and all
tie wires must be tight and all re-bars must be properly secured and
aligned.
 Ensure all embedment are installed properly (Electrical, Plumbing,
Sanitary)
 Use concrete spacers to ensure the proper elevation of re-bars.
Space spacer blocks such that re-bars won’t sag especially 6mm
diameter Mesh wire @ 150mm OC.

WATER LINES AND ELECTRICAL ROUGHING INSTALLATION

 Install electrical embedment (Electrical Conduits) based on approved plans.


Ensure proper locations and directions.
 Install roughing-ins for water lines. Also ensure proper locations and
direction. Use PPR Pipes for Water lines.
 Perform Leak Test for water lines. Use hydro pressure leak test apparatus for
2hrs with minimum of 100psi.
CONSTRUCTION OF SLAB ON GRADE

CONCRETING
 Pour concrete according as per design mix. 3,000PSI for Slab on Grade.
 Ensure correct elevation and slab is even and level. Install hard guide to
prevent uneven placement. Slab on grade thickness must be 80mm.
 Slab on grade must be smooth finished. Porch must be provided with
groove as per design.

CONCRETING OF SLAB ON GRADE
 Prior to concreting, check all embedment and rough in (Plumbing, Electrical,
and Sanitary)
 Ensure that re-bars are properly placed at their respective location as per plan.
Ensure proper splicing. Check sizing of re-bars, spacing, and specification
based on the approved plans.
 Make sure that line and grade of formworks are all set prior to pouring.
 Provide proper spacing of spacer block of specific location to ensure standard
concrete covering.
 Provide guidelines to ensure the slab is level. (Plant re-bars or staking and
mark the desired elevation).
 Proceed with concrete pouring after the above conditions were all set.
 Pour concrete according to design mix. 3,000psi for slab on grade.
 Follow the specified floor finish based on approved plans.
CONSTRUCTION OF SLAB ON GRADE
CONCRETING OF 2ND FLOOR SLAB
 Install forms for 2nd Floor Slab. Make sure it is level. Provide shoring in
specific location.
 Slab Bars should be of the correct size and fabricated according to
Structural design, plans and specifications. Ensure correct Configuration
(bends, splice and bar spacing).
 Install electrical rough-ins. Ensure proper locations and directions. Install
junction box for lighting fixture on their respective location based on
approved plans.
 Prior to pouring, check the level of forms. Pour concrete according to
design mix. 3000PSI for slab. Maintain slab thickness of 125mm
throughout. Follow the specified floor finish based on approved plans.
LAYING OF CHB
Safety Requirements
 Prior to construction of the CHB wall, a scaffold spanning the work area
is constructed up to the level of the construction. The scaffold is to be
designed to be able to hold the material that is to be used in the wall
construction. Scaffolding will be erected so that it will allow each mason
free access without being tied off.
 All workers working at height will have to wear safety harnesses with
lanyard.
 The area where the block work activities are in progress will be
barricaded.
LAYING OF CHB
CHB WALL INSTALLATION
 Ensure that material and masonry accessories are
approved. (Refer to list of approved materials as provided
by the MDC)
 Masonry delivered to site shall be carefully unloaded and
handled to prevent chipping and breakage.
 In dry and hot climate, masonry units will be wetted before
laying in order to prevent quick drying and shrinkage of
cement based mortars.
 6” LBW shall be used for all external walls and 4” LBW
for all internal walls.
 First set of blocks should be fully set out with proper
alignment. Installation will be made wherein dowels were
installed and guidelines are kept.
 Blocks shall be properly laid on a full bed of mortar.
 Supply 10mm dia. Horizontal bar spaced at 600mm O.C.
during the laying of blocks.
PLASTERING AND FINISHING
EXECUTION OF WORKS
 Safety requirements for construction of masonry wall will be same or be
used for the plastering.
 Provide nylon guidelines to maintain even and equal flat finishing.
 Wet the masonry wall to let adequate bond between Portland cement
plaster and the wall itself.
 Flash the wall with pure Portland cement.
 Apply Portland cement mixture onto the wall following guidelines so to
have a equal flat surface.
 Apply skim coat finishing as a last coat for finishing.

 Scissors  Prepare and lay-out all materials needed.
 Hammer  Install RF-1 and RF-2 for roof framing.

 Install Fascia Board.

 Mark the elevation specified on the approved plans. Make sure that it is
level throughout the structure.

 Use concrete nail to install wall angle on


wall with established elevation.
 Use hand drill, riveter and rivets to
connect double furring to wall angle.
 Connect C-Chanel to double furring
using double furring clip.
 Install double furring and corner angle
on wall.

INSTALLATION OF GYPSUM BOARD

 After the inspection & checking, proceed with the cutting of


Gypsum board.
 Install gypsum board on double furring using blind rivet spaced
at 400mm on center.
 Application of gypsum putty on joints with mesh tape.
 Surface shall be ready to receive paint.

PREPARATORY WORKS
 Clean all areas. Remove all dirt and excess materials. Make the necessary
touch-up on the surfaces such that the surface in consideration would be
considerably smooth, free from unnecessary curvatures, sharp corners etc.
 Gypsum board surfaces. Fill minor defects with latex. Spot prime defects
after repair.
 Concrete and Masonry Surfaces. Remove dirt and loose mortar. Remove
other impurities.
PAINTING
INSPECTION
 Before application, check the strength of Base surfaces by scratching with a
nail.
 Check the smoothness of the surface.
 Boundary of the area to be painted should be properly protected with
plywood, newspaper or other applicable materials.
 Mixing of two types of liquid materials: agitate more than 3 minutes by hand
mixer.
 Check the brand of the materials and the method of application used.
PAINTING
PAINT APPLICATION

 Surface Preparation.
 Apply the product as specified on the plan- each coat to uniform finish.
 Allow each coat to dry before the next coat is applied. Do not apply finishes
to surfaces that are not dry.
 Apply each coat slightly darker than the first one unless otherwise noted.
 Sand lightly between coats to achieve the required finish.
TILES INSTALLATION
 Check the line and grade, squareness and plumbness of T&B
existing masonry wall area including the specified floor depression
where the tiles are to be install.
 Provide concrete marking buttons on T&B wall perimeter to
determine the tiles alignment and the thickness of tile adhesive to
be applied.
 Lay out the first layer of wall tiles on a plywood guide around the
perimeter of the T&B wall to determine the width of the tile
“seruho” on every corner of the wall.
TILES INSTALLATION
 Mix the tile adhesive on the mixing basin pouring the appropriate
amount of water so as to get the right plasticity then apply a thin set of
tile adhesive using notch trowel.

 Install wall tiles using rubber mallet up to 2-3 layers. Use tile spacer to
assure the typical tile spacing then from time to time, check the level,
plumbness and alignment using the necessary tools.

 Provide tile trim at door and window opening.

 Then at floor tiles installation, provide 2% slope towards the floor drain.

 Apply grout and make sure the work area is clean before leaving.

SETTING
 Look for the lay-out & centerlines references provided by General
Contractor (x, y, z references);
 Check & ensure the squareness & alignment of the openings;
 Make sure hinge jamb and strike jamb should have a maximum gap
from the wall side of 2.5mm while that of the header side 3mm
should also be provided;
 Fit the frame & mark all the installation holes provided;
 Remove door frame and drill holes on the marked locations.

LEVELLING AND BRACING
 The installer should be equipped with a carpenter level, square and
plumb bob with string;
 Level the header;
 Square jambs to header. Shim under frame if necessary;
 Double-check plumbness and squareness, brace the frame.
Fixing
 Fix expansion bolts on the holes provided on jambs;
 Check alignment;
 Install panel and check functionally;
 Fill in the tube reinforcement by mortar, let dry, cover the hole with
caps provided.
Install Hardware
INSTALLATION OF STAIRS
 Provide lay-out on the wall where stair will be installed.
 Fabricate all components of stairs, including frame for steps, stringers, king
post and other components based on approved plans. All components must
be painted with epoxy primer.
 Install stringers connected to the wall and second floor slab. Follow the type
of connections specified on the plans. Ensure correct location.
 Install steps from second floor slab up to the first floor slab. Ensure proper
distances and height of steps according to approved plan.
 Install MS Plate on the steps in preparation for installation of rebars/welded
wire mesh on steps of stair as specified on the plan.
 Install rebars/welded wire mesh and pour concrete on the steps of stairs.
 Grind all areas with excess weld.
 Apply paint on the stairs.

PLUMBING FIXTURES
INSTALLATION
 Double check the exact location of all stab-outs for hose bib, shower
head, floor drain, toilet bowl, lavatory, kitchen sink and clean out prior
to installation. Relocate if needed.
 Make sure that prior to installation, squareness and plumbness of wall
was checked.
 Install fixtures as per specification based on approved plans.
 Provide testing after installation.
ELECTRICAL FIXTURES
INSTALLATION
 Double check the proper location of all utility boxes for switches and outlet
and junction boxes for receptacle based on plans. Relocate if needed.
 Lay-out and install all other electrical pipes and junction boxes needed for
lighting fixtures. Ensure proper location and direction. Install necessary
accessories like metal clamp and locknut adaptor.
 Proceed with wirings. Ensure proper direction.
 Install outlets, switches and receptacles and panel board. Follow
specifications and all brands specified on the plans and/or approved by the
QA Engineer.
 Provide testing.

Excavation
 Make sure that all depths and widths of excavation were correct
based on the plans. Refer to sheet no. SP-1. Execute excavation.

Gravel and Sand Bedding


 After excavation apply 100mm THK of gravel bedding followed
with 75mm THK of sand bedding.

Installation of Septic Vault


 Install 1-set of S.V. for each unit as shown in the Working
drawings.
 Make sure all PVC inlet and outlet are properly connected.
