RULE #1
SELECT A LEGIBLE FONT TYPE AND SIZE

• Text should be easy to read from all areas of the


room
• Choose a font size that is large enough for people in
the back of the room to read
• Readable font types include:
• Times New Roman
• Arial
• Verdana
• Comic Sans MS

USE COLORS THAT CONTRAST

• Use dark text on a light background


• Use light text on a dark background
• Stick with one to two colors  Too many colors
overwhelm the eye

BE SELECTIVE WITH PICTURES

• All pictures should have a purpose


• Include visuals that will enhance your presentation
• Select high quality images

• Audience should be listening – not reading
• Less is more effective

• Avoid reading directly from slides


• Prepare ahead of time
• Be knowledgeable about topic

• Practice your presentation


• Record yourself beforehand to see which parts of the
presentation you tend to speed up on
• Speak with confidence and ease
• Allow time for audience to absorb the information
being presented
