Power derived from the utilization of
physical or chemical resources, especially to provide light and heat or to work machines. The energy in all moving objects is known as kinetic energy. It is also regarded as movement energy because it is the energy contained by any object in motion or movement. The heavier and faster the objects move, the more the possessed kinetic energy. Electromagnetic waves make up radiant Energy. It is the form of energy that can move through space such as the sun’s rays or heat. Electrical energy is the energy caused by the movement of electrons. The movement of the electrons is based on the amount of possessed energy. Wind energy is a form of solar energy. It describes the process by which wind is used to generate electricity. Thermal energy is also known as heat energy. It is determined by the activeness of atoms or molecules in an object. Potential energy is contained in any object that is at rest. It is also called stored energy. It is the general opposite of kinetic energy. The heavier the object, the more its Potential energy. A good example is the water held up in a hydroelectric power dam. Chemical energy is the stored energy in the bonds of chemical compounds such as molecules and atoms. Gravitational energy is often confused with potential energy. Potential energy is stored in any object, but gravitational energy is only stored in the height of the object. Nuclear energy is energy resulting from changes in the atomic nuclei or from nuclear reactions. Energy conversions • All forms of energy can be converted into other forms. – The sun’s energy through solar cells can be converted directly into electricity. – Green plants convert the sun’s energy (electromagnetic) into starches and sugars (chemical energy). 1. The industrial sector uses the most energy at 31%. 2. The commercial sector uses the last 19%. 3. It is used in our daily life activities. 4. All the appliances that we use in our daily life require energy to work . 1. Inspect windows and ductwork for any air leakage. 2. Keep lamps, TVs and other electrical appliances away from the thermostat. 3. Boil water in a covered vessel , the water will boil faster and use less energy. 4. Purchase an energy efficient modal of water heater. 5. keep light bulbs dust free. Dust on bulbs could be reducing your light output by 50%. Etc.. 1. Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed by ordinary means. It can only be converted from one form to another. 2. In 1905, Albert Einstein said that mass and energy can be converted into each other. he showed that if matter is destroyed, energy is created, and if energy is destroyed, mass is created. E=mc²
