Commander - over-all responsible for the
operation and has the supervision over the entire
forces of the amphibious task force. (Invariably

Amphibious operations integrates
sea, air and land forces in a concerted
military effort.
It exploit the elements of surprise and
capitalizes upon enemy weaknesses
through application of the required
typed and degree of force at the most
advantageous location and at the most
opportune time.
It must be conducted in the face of certain
additional and distinguishing difficulties. Seas,
surf and features of hydrographic not normally
encountered in land warfare.
Combat operations involving shore
movement across the sea areas and in land water
through naval ships is not amphibious
operations. Similarly, administrative unloading
or personnel and material from ships into
friendly territory, water terminal and logistics
over the shore operations are not amphibious

Planning - Begins upon receipt of
initiating directive, this phase ends upon
embarkation (Planning does not stop at
end or phase) ATF and CLF are

Embarkation - Loading of forces

ships. Embarkation Phase is the period

during which forces move to embarkation
areas and embark in assigned shipping,
ends upon leaving port.
Rehearsal - The rehearsal phase
is the period during which the
amphibious task force rehearses the
planned operations to test the
adequacy of plans, the time scheduled
for detailed operations, and combat
readiness of participating forces and
the testing of communications. Practice makes

Movement - This phase includes those naval
activities the convoying of the assault shipping and the
requisite protection of the force. Shipped are grouped
and move according to ships operational characteristics
without regard to organization of the embarked forces.
These movement grouped or convoys rendezvous in or
near the objective area and arrive on station according to
the time commitment of the ships or the embarked force.

preparation for the assault. During this phase,

preparation of objective area is intensified. The
movement is completed when all elements of the ATF
have arrived in the objective area.
Assault - It incorporates the whole purpose of
all proceeding events and activities, the establishment of
the amphibious task force mission. The assault phase Go Army

includes the final preparation of the objective area,

stationing of assault shipping and control system, the
ship to shore movement of the assault echelon of the
landing force, tactical operations requisite to establishing
the beachhead, operations in support of the landing
forces, and establishment of Command and control.
Termination - is predicted on the
accomplishment of the mission of the ATF in accordance
with the specific conditions contained in governing
instruction set forth in the initiating directive. Job well done
