 The oldest water works known are the irrigation
systems builts in Mesopotamia, Egypt, Middle Asia
and China
 The chinese recorded observations of wind and
precipitation as early as 1200 B.C.
 The concept of a dynamic hydrologic cycle may be
found in China by 900 B.C., in India.
 Hydrology as a science was first defined by Pierre
Perrault, Edme Mariotte, and Edmund Halley.
 Cassini and Ramazzini offered the hydrostatic
theory of artesian pressure.
 Bernoulli and his son in 1738, and Chezy in 1775
discovered velocity equations known under their
names.
 Pitot in 1732 and Venturi in 1798 designed
instruments to record velocity.
 Mid-term I 30%
 Mid-term II 30%
 Final exam 40%
 Attendance is strictly required.

 Students who have attendance less than 70%

will be graded according to catalog.
