Feature Introduction

Interference Rejection Combining (IRC)

IRC is a diversity combining
technology which now is introduced in eRAN 6.0 for PUCCH to enhance performance.

Two Receive Technologies

 A common receiver which is the optimal if interference is spatially white.
Interference rejection combining (IRC)
 High performance if interference is spatially coloured.
 IRC use interference mitigation technology to improve receive performance.
Feature Introduction

IRC meets a certain equalization criterion , for example, MMSE or MSINR. Because the number of antennas is limited, an MMSE receiver
cannot minimize the interference gain of the side lobes while directing the main lobe to the signal source. Instead, the MMSE receiver makes
a tradeoff between minimizing the interference gain and maximizing the signal gain, and therefore maximizes the signal to interference plus
noise ratio (SINR) of the combined signal.
IRC Receivers Used by PUCCH Channels:

 PUCCH IRC will contribute to improve coverage at the edge of the cell when it’s under the jamming scenario. If the coverage is limited by

other physical uplink channel, PUCCH IRC can not improve the coverage.

 PUCCH IRC will contribute to improve the downlink throughput when UE’s PUCCH transmitting power is limited under the jamming
scenario. If the coverage is limited by other physical uplink channel, the gain of the downlink throughput will be reduced.

 PUCCH IRC will contribute to reduce the UE’s PUCCH transmitting power when UE’s PUCCH transmitting power is not limited under the
jamming scenario, saving electricity for the user.

Conclusion
Conclusion

• Summary:-
• After enabling Interference Rejection Combining (IRC) Globally on R2/R4 we massive improvement in the DL & UL throughput as mentioned below :
• 5% improvement in User DL throughput to reach value of 12500 Kbps 0.5 Mbps increase
• 5% Improvement in user UL throughput to reach value of 1070 Kbps
• All the main KPIs remain stable

Conclusion:-
• Through this trial it has been concluded that it is improving DL & UL throughput
• NO Draw backs from the KPIs perspective

Recommendation:-
• Rollout in Region R1/R3

• Expectation:-
• Improve UPLINK & DL throughput in the High interference areas
