Isometric Drawing
3 Parts of an Isometric:
• Engineering Data Block:
- Fabrication and Installation Data
- Line List Data
- Identification data
- Revision Blocks
• Graphic Section (Face)
- Details of what is to be fabricated
• Bill of Material (BOM)
- A listing of all materials required to fabricate and install the
line.
- Prepared by piping material control.
- Attached to the isometric or issued as a separate document.

Piping plan Drawing
PIPING PLANS
• The Piping plan is one of the most
important drawings produced by the piping
design group.
• It is essential that this drawing be accurate
and legible.
• It does not need to be a “Laborous work
of art”.

B. Piping Design
AQP (Activity Quality Plan) - Defines the activities
performed by a discipline on a project. The procedure (WI) to
be followed in performing the activity, the verification method
(basis of check) to be used in checking and documenting the
activity, and the authorities / responsibilities and personnel
involved.
WI (Work Instruction) - Defines the general terms to
work steps involved in an activity, the discipline involved, and
the practices to be followed.
CL (Check List) - Used in conjunction with work
instructions to monitor the content, quality and completeness
of the document.

Piping Quality Systems - Procedures
A. Piping Design
• For auditing purposes, 10% random sampling of
isometrics will be taken on a weekly basis for each
individual checker.
• Error will be recorded for each individual checker on the
Quality Control Audit Record. Week totals for an
individual checker will be rolled into the Quality Control
Audit Individual Checker Accumulative summary.
• The weekly audit result for the project will be entered on
the Quality Control Audit Weekly Summary. All weekly
audit result will be rolled into the QC Audit
Accumulative Summary. The Auditor will give a brief
description of the weekly errors by category using the
Audit Finding Summary.

B. Material
• A 10% random sampling of BOM’s for each week.
AFC isometrics issue will be taken for audit on a
weekly basis for individual Sr.Material Control
Specialist working on the project. These BOM’s
are the output of PDS.exe. files downloaded to
GMS. For accuracy purposes, the following
checks are being done by the Material
control on the Materials for each isometrics
prior to final downloading to home office
for purchase.

Piping Quality Systems - Procedures
C. Piping Stress
• All stress calculation are subject to checking.
Checker must be qualified and capable to
perform checking of analysis and calculations.
The system classified on given in this document
may be used as a basis but is not fixed
limitation. Classification may vary from project
to project. Every system shall be
checked using the stress system checklist. (see
attachment)

60
Piping Quality Systems - Responsibilities
A. Designer
• Check, back check and correct assigned piping models
drawings and isometrics.
• Check other department design drawings and supplier
equip. drawings.
• Perform as qualified checker for project deliverables.
AV\filename.ppt
61
Piping Quality Systems - Responsibilities
B. Checkers
• Ensure compliance with Fluor Daniel and client specs and
design practice.
• Ensure final product is fit for purpose and not over or
under design.
• Ensure that effective quality program is in place,
understood and being followed by task force.
• Execute quality control procedure and do checking as
required.
