Hungry, Hungry Dinosaur

Our Lesson
● The students will be able to identify the characteristics of a herbivore,
omnivore and carnivore.
● The students will be able to use what they have learned in the lesson to be
able to complete the activity at the end of the lesson.
● We will start by watching a short clip about dinosaurs grazing
○ We will them go more into depth about the types of grazing that dinosaurs do
○ We will pick a particular dinosaur breed for each category of grazing; omnivore, herbivore,
and carnivore
● The students will complete a dinosaur sorting game to assess their
knowledge.

What is a Herbivore?
● Herbivore: An animal that feeds only on plants
○ Also known as ‘Plant-eaters’
● Ankylosaurus, Diplodocus, Triceratops

Features:

● Blunt/flat teeth
● Long neck
● Small head

a. 155.7-150.8 million years ago
3. Found in North America
4. Use their tail for protection
a. Whip tail at supersonic speeds to create a loud noise

● Carnivore: An animal that feeds only on meat
○ Also known as ‘Meat-eaters’
○ Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, Allosaurus
