Critical Alarm Details
1. MME communication Fail
This alarm occurs when there is a communication problem between the eNB and the MME.

Possible Cause(s):
1. The eNB does not receive a response for the SCTP heartbeat from all the equipped MMEs.
2. The S1AP connection setup between the eNB and all the equipped MMEs has not been completed.

Remedy :
To identify and correct the problem:
1 Check if the failure is caused by a connection problem with the SCTP or with the S1AP.
2 Run the RTRV-MME-CONF command to check the MME IP Address and status.
3 If the MME IP Address is correct, run a ping command to the MME.
4 If the ping command result shows a connectivity problem (the MME is unreachable), check the transport network
between the eNB and the MME.
5 Check the status of the S1AP connection with the MME.
6 Check if the PLMN value obtained when running the RTRV-CELL-INFO command is the same as the service pr
ovider’s PLMN value.
7 If the PLMN value is normal, contact the MME operator.

2. ECP DSP RESTART
This alarm occurs when the DSP resets and restarts.

Possible Cause(s) :

1 The DSP resets and restarts (by using the DSP Reset command or replacing the DSP image).
Impact
2 Cell services related to the ECP are not available during restart.

Remedy :

To identify and correct the problem:

1 Run the INIT-DSP command to reset the DSP.
2 If the alarm is not cleared after taking the described actions, or if the alarm occurs repeatedly, contact
Samsung.

3. SERVICE OFF
This alarm occurs when all the cells for the eNB are disabled.

Possible Cause(s) :

All cells for the eNB are disabled.

Impact :

All cell services are not available.

Remedy :

To identify and correct the problem:

1 Run the RTRV-CELL-CONF command to check the cell configuration information.
2 If all the cells are locked, run the CHG-CELL-CONF command to change the cell configuration and unlock the
cells.
3 If the alarm is not cleared, run the RTRV-CELL-STS command to check cell status.
4 Check if an alarm is generated in the ECP, DSP, or RF units.
5 If an alarm is generated in the ECP, take corrective measures specific to the ECP.
6 If an alarm is generated in the clock module (PTPM or GPSR), take a corrective measures specific to the clock
module (PTPM or GPSR).
7 If an alarm is generated in the DSP, take corrective measures specific to the DSP.

4. RRH HW TYPE MISMATCH
This alarm occurs when the connected RRH H/W type mismatches with the configured one.

Possible Cause(s) :

Connected RRH H/W type did not match the configured RRH H/W type.

Impact :

Cell services related to the RRH are not available.

Remedy :

Off-site Actions via LSM Before Site Visit :

To collect the LSM log and current status information:

1 Run the RTRV-ALM-LIST:RRH command to check the alarms generated in the RRH.
2 Run the RTRV-RRH-STS command to check the RRH status information.
To identify and correct the problem:

type.
5 Run the RTRV-RRH-INVT command to check the RRH type.
© Samsung Electronics. All Rights Reserved. Confidential and Proprietary. 29
Remedy
6 Check if the RRH type of the result from step 2 and step 3 are the same. If they are different, degrow
and regrow the RRH using CHG-RRH-CONF.
7 Run CHG-RRH-CONF command to configure the RRH type.
8 Run the RTRV-RRH-INVT command to check if the firmware version installed in the RRH is the latest
version.
9 If the firmware version is not the latest, run the UDT-RRH-FW command to update the firmware to the
latest version, and observe if the alarm occurs again.

10 If the alarm occurs again after the firmware update, run the INIT-RRH command to reset the RRH.
11 If the alarm is cleared, record the current status and observe any reoccurrence.
12 If the alarm is not cleared, visit the site and perform on-site actions.

On-site Actions :

To identify and correct the problem:

1 Power-cycle the RRH.

2 If the alarm is cleared, record the current status and observe any reoccurrence.
3 If the alarm is not cleared, replace the RRH.

5. ECP CPRI FAIL
This alarm occurs when Loss of Signal (LOS) or Loss of Frame (LOF) occurs in the Common Platform
Radio Interface (CPRI) layer.

Possible Cause(s) :

Loss of Signal (LOS) or Loss of Frame (LOF) occurs in the Common Platform Radio Interface (CPRI)
layer.
1 LOS: An alarm is generated when more than 16 8B/10B violations are detected in the overall CPRI
hyper frame.
2 LOF: An alarm is generated when the hyper frame alignment (BYTE=K28.5 & Y=W=X=0) is not
achieved on the CPRI synchronization state.

Impact :

Cell services related to the RRH that is connected to the relevant ECP port are not available.

Remedy :

To identify and correct the problem:

1 Run the RTRV-ALM-LIST command to check if ECP OPTIC TRANSCEIVER RX LOS and ECP OPTIC
TRANSCEIVER TX FAULT alarms are generated.
2 Using LOS and LOF, you can check if the Rx path is normal. When an alarm is generated, run the
RTRV-RRH-STS command to check if the RRH is normal.

6. RRH COMMUNICATION FAIL
This alarm occurs when there is a communication problem between the UMP and the RRH.

Possible Cause(s) :

The main processor (UMP) did not receive the Keep-Alive response from the RRH.

Impact :

Cell services related to the RRH are not available.

Remedy :

Off-site Actions via LSM Before Site Visit :

To collect the LSM log and current status information:

1 Run the RTRV-ALM-LIST command to check if the CPRI_FAIL alarm is generated at the RHH connection port.

REMEDY

On-site Actions :

To identify and correct the problem:

1 Change the tilting of the antenna that is connected to the RRH that is experiencing the alarm. Observe the changes in
the VSWR fail alarm and determine if the problem is due to the Tx output of an adjacent sector.
2 Check the antenna cables. Check the antenna for defects. Check the assembly condition and the degree of protection
against rain. If water entered between the antenna cable and the connectors, a VSWR fail alarm may occur. Use a hair
dryer to thoroughly dry each connector, and test again.
3 If the VSWR returns to the normal level, apply rainproof silicone molding to the RRH antenna port, antenna RF cable,
and antenna port.
4 If the VSWR does not return to the normal level, connect an antenna and antenna cable that do not have defects.
5 If an alarm persists after taking the described actions, power-cycle the RRH.
6 If the alarm is cleared, record the current status and observe any reoccurrence.
