 Politics- study of the state
 State- community of persons, occupying a definite
portion of the surface of the Earth, having the
permanence of government and practicing sovereignty
throughout its jurisdiction.
 Nation- is based fully in the racial and ethnic relations
in his or her mother land.
 PEOPLE-refer to the inhabitants of a particular area
 TERRITORY- occupied portion of surface of the Earth
 GOVERNMENT- is the political institution and
aggregate of people who are collaborated for the
purpose of achieving their goal; general welfare of the
public through their service delivery system.
 SOVEREIGNTY- uncontrollable power of the state to
implement, execute and enforce its policies, rules,
regulations and laws throughout its jurisdictional area.
 Citizen- an individual who enjoys full civil, social,
economic, cultural and political rights.
 National- an individual who has an oath of allegiance
to his or her mother country.
 Alien- an illegally transmitted individual through a
given border line of a nearby country.
 Terrestrial- comprises land territory
 Fluvial- comprises water territory
 Aerial- comprises air territorry
 ACCORDING TO LEGITIMACY
 De Jure- rightful practice of authority based on the
existing rules.
 De Facto-practice of authority based on using force.
 ACCORDING TO NUMBER AND NATURE/CLASS OF
PERSON/PEOPLE PRACTICING AUTHORITY
 Democracy- power of the people is the prevalent mean in
running the entire government.
 Monarchy- the power and authority is vested only to one
person in running the entire government.
 Oligarchy- several people are running the government
based on wealth.
 Socialism- often addressed as the rule of proletariat,
promulgating common ownership; whereas the
government is vested upon an absolute power and
authority.
 Internal- type of sovereignty includes the exercise and
practice of implementation and execution of laws
throughout its jurisdictional area.
 External- type of sovereignty includes the recognition
of other or nearby states as a legitimate political entity
and; basically includes diplomatic and foreign
relations through a membership in several
international organizations.
 Power- ability to control something or someone.
 Influence- ability to influence and change the
behavior of others to become favorable to you.
 Authority- right of someone to practice power.
 Legitimacy- basis for the practice of authority
