IDT 3600 M E G A N WO O L E Y

FINAL
1. FACILITATE & INSPIRE STUDENT
LEARNING & CREATIVITY
• The work completed in this course allowed me to create a resource of various tools that
could be used to incorporate technology in the classroom.
– Creating and completing a WebQuest is an excellent way to for students to be creative. The
WebQuest that I made this semester in IDT engaged students into learning about the election of
1860.
– The portfolio created on Weebly allowed me to reflect on individual work I completed over the
course of this semester.
– Through the use of the discussion board, students and the professor were able to collaborate and
communicate over a variety of topics.
2. DESIGN & DEVELOP DIGITAL AGE
LEARNING EXPERIENCES & ASSESSMENTS
• The course itself is online, and therefore requires the student to manage his/her time, take
charge of their educational goals, and assess their individual progress.
• The creation of various lesson plans has helped me personalize lessons on individual student
needs.
• Having course work that engages students, such as discussion boards or Weebly assignments,
are great tools to measure student progress and use of technology.
3. MODEL DIGITAL AGE WORK &
LEARNING
• Discussion boards have allowed students to collaborate with their peers. Assignments this
semester, for me personally, have required me to collaborate with my mom (who is a retired
teacher) and students in other courses.
• Portfolios, such as Weebly, allow students to demonstrate their work in IDT, but it is also a
great tool to use as a teacher. Teachers could create class webpages to keep parents involved in
their child’s school work.
• The simple fact of using a computer to complete online course work is an example of
modeling and facilitating the use of digital tools to support learning.
4. PROMOTE & MODEL DIGITAL
CITIZENSHIP & RESPONSIBILITY
• When completing assignments this semester, if an outside source was used, a citation of that
source was required to be included.
• With each assignment given this semester, multiple sites for completion were included. This
allowed learners to choose which one would benefit them the most.
• Discussion boards used required digital etiquette and for students to be responsible and
respectful of their peers.
ENGAGE IN PROFESSIONAL GROWTH
AND LEADERSHIP
• IDT 3600 was a great class to take to explore the various creative applications of technology
that could be used to improve student learning. Finding multiple interactive learning websites,
for example, helped me create a running resource of digital tools that I will incorporate into
my future classroom.
• Recording lessons and assignments allowed me to take control and become a leader to myself
and in my learning.
• The assignment of writing about the use of technology in low tech environments helped make
myself and others aware of the issues surrounding the use of technology.
