years.
"Nearly 1/2 of all reported deaths are
children thru 4 years old, and 1/2 of
the accelerated death rate among
those age 5 and younger is related
to malnutrition...."
DEFINITION OF TERMS

MALNUTRITION
It is a condition that results from eating a diet in
which one or more nutrients are either not enough or
are too much such that the diet causes health
problems.

and below.

within the 80 barangays in the
said locality which includes 56
urbanized barangays and 24
rural areas.

290,913.

There must be a specific Barangay Kagawad


per barangay that will look over the welfare of the
nutrition status of their children.

The Barangay Health Workers (BHW) shall


be held responsible of the malnourished children
assigned in their areas;

The feeding programs shall be done


separately: out-of-school and in-school
malnourished children;
Each Barangay must have a “Gulayan sa
Tugkaran”;
School Canteens must be responsible of the
foods they are selling to children;

in 1974 by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 491,
otherwise known as the “Nutrition Act of the
Philippines”.

The primary responsibility of policies of the nutrition
developers are to formulate national food and nutrition policies and
strategies; coordinate the planning, monitoring and evaluation of
the national nutrition program; coordinate the release of funds,
loans and grants from government and non-government
organizations; and call on any department, bureau, office, agency
and other instrumentalities of the government for assistance in the
form of personnel, facilities and resources as the need arises.

Chairman-Coordinator of the National Food and
Agriculture Council shall be the Chairman of the Council.
He shall maintain a close link of the nutrition program with
the food programs of the government. In his absence, the
Secretary of Health shall be the Acting Chairman.

For Public institutions like DOH, barangays and any


other public institutions. If they failed to make the said
support to the public school the institution will be banned
and will be filed a penalty of being imprisoned for 6 months
(only for then people are in charge for the said feeding
programme)

For the private institutions, if they failed to make their


promises they may be banned in supporting the school for
1year.

For the person in charge in a school base feeding


program, taking home ingredients and food for the children
the person in charge will be suspended from his/her
position for about 6months.

For the school base feeding programme, if the said


school will not be able to produce the sufficient food and a
good quality of food for the children, the school officials will
be suspended for 6 months from their position.
Effective Date

This policy or project shall take effect on June 2019.
