Alpha Lubricator MK II
Background

More advanced lubrication is needed due to:

 the general development of engines towards longer strokes.

 increased cylinder pressure.

 the recent changes in operational patterns towards lower-load operation.

 more strict emission requirements.

 Cold corrosion

Alpha Lubricator MK II
Background

Goal:

• More advanced Lubrication system and optimized CLO consumption

by:

1. the possibility to vary the injected volume for each revolution at different
engine loads.

2. more frequent injections – at least one time every revolution.

Alpha Lubricator MK II
Working principle

Alpha MKII Principle

• The piston stroke is determined by adaptive calculation of the time pulse (ms)
and the position is controlled by the inductive sensor.

• The plungers will deliver the calculated oil dosage in small portions
until full stroke is reached and then return to its initial position.

Alpha Lubricator MK II
Working principle

• The possibility for up to two injections per revolution with different timing/amount.

• Every injection timing is decided according to TDC for the actual cylinder.

Mounting on engine – compared with Alpha MK I

Alpha lubricator MK I Alpha lubricator MK II

• a little larger compared to Alpha MK I
• 6 mm oil pipes (before 8 mm)
• adapter block between HCU and Lubricator.
Therefore no changes on the current
HCU (besides a new drilled drain hole).
The adapter block have same interface as the current mounted lubricator
MK I).
