Prior to outlining rules explain why site rules are important.

This can be done through reference to industry accident rates, need to prevent
accidents, legal requirements or as proof of everybody¶s commitment to
health and safety matters on site

M All personnel must undergo induction training.


M Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment shall be worn.
M Every accident and near miss event must be reported to the Project
anager.
M Any person found to be interfering or misusing fixtures, fittings or equipment
provided in the interest of health, safety or welfare will be excluded from the
site.
M Smoking is prohibited on site.
M Visitors must report to Security Check point prior to site offices & will be
allowed entry at discretion.
M On site visitors are to wear the appropriate PPE at all times.

^eneral Site Rules

M A Helmet and Reflective vest must be worn at all times.


M Vehicles are not to be reversed in construction areas unless under the
control of an authorised banksman.
M Safety signs and notices must be followed.
M Transistor radios or personal stereos / walkmans are not to be used.
M Permission must be obtained from the Project anager prior to any
photography or video filming on site.
M Site fire and emergency alarms, equipment and instructions must be
followed.

Personal Safety Rules

All personnel are required to wear a safety helmet, safety footwear and a
high visibility vest.
M The consumption of alcohol and drugs is prohibited.
M No person is to operate any mechanical plant or equipment unless they
have been trained and have been certificated as competent.
M Any mechanical plant or equipment found to be defective is not to be used.
M Ladders are only to be used as work platforms for tasks of short duration
and only if no alternative means of access is readily available. Ladders
must always be secured to a structure or securely µfooted¶ by another
person whilst in use.

Personal Safety Rules

M The use of trestles is prohibited. Approved safe working platforms can be


used up to 1.2m. Thereafter properly constructed and guarded mobile
towers are to be used. obile towers without guard-rails must not be used.
M Food is only to be consumed in the designated accommodation / messing
areas.
M No person, other than a designated & qualified electrician, is to make
connection / disconnection, other than at approved plug & socket points, or
make alteration to the temporary electrical supply, or Reset RCD´S.
M No personnel shall indulge in fighting, horseplay or practical jokes within the
site perimeter.

Delivery Vehicle Rules

M Site speed limit 30kph


M No children are permitted on site - even within vehicles.
M ust use vehicle flashing beacon or hazard warning lights
M ^o directly to the delivery point as directed by site security, they should not
wander around the site.
M Not to be reversed without a banksman.
M Vehicle should be parked considerately: not blocking access/egress routes &
fire points.
M Engines should be switched-off when not in use.
M Drivers should not leave their vehicle without wearing a safety helmet, safety
footwear and high-visibility clothing.
