AGENCY PROJECT PRESENTATION SWK 4910

 NEEDS ASSESSMENT
I talked with several social workers about what I could do for my agency project. I
found it to be common that the agency lacked an organized list of resources the
agency used frequently. Coming in as a new social worker, it is hard to know what
resources the agency uses. I talked with my supervisor and she thought the idea would
be very beneficial to the agency. She expressed how this was a project they had
been talking about but no one every had the time or got around to doing it.
 OVERALL OF THE PROJECT
I composed a word document list of all the resources the agency uses. This list
consisted of mental health, food pantries, homeless shelters, legal aid, medical
providers, Medicaid dentist, substance abuse, domestic violence shelters, churches in
the community, resources for teenagers, transportation, housing and even drug testing.
This list is very detailed and consist of the telephone number for each resource. I also
scanned in several different brochures and flyers I had so if someone didn’t know
what exactly a resource did they could find more information under the agency
name.
COMPETENCIES USED
Competency 1.4: Use technology ethically and appropriately to facilitate practice
outcomes.
I used agency technology when transferring the files to there Z drive.
Competency 3.2: Engage in practices that advance social, economic, and
environmental justice
I offered Spanish brochures and resources as well to meet all the clients we face.
Competency 5.1: Identify social policy at the local, state, and federal level that
impacts well-being, service delivery, and access to social services.
By doing this resource folder, I became familiar with resources within the community
locally.
