up to 3 RATs and dedicated / shared RF modules
GSM WCDMA LTE
System Module System Module System Module
• 6 x OBSAI interface for Radio Modules • 8 x OBSAI interface for Radio Modules
• 1 x OBSAI cable needed between FSMF and each FBBC
FBBA and FBBC have exactly same baseband capacity i.e. 6 subunits for traffic use
• FBBC has 4 x OBSAI ports for Radio Modules in front panel, compared to 1 x OBSAI port in FBBA
• For WCDMA 1 x OBSAI cable would be needed between FSMF and FBBC if more than one dedicated WCDMA RF units connected
to FBBC
each FBBC adds only one OBSAI port more in configuration compared to FBBA
• RF connectivity need comes in multi-RAT sites and RF sharing cases which are typical SRAN cases
FBBC will be supported in WCDMA in SRAN 16. Both in WCDMA dedicated mode and in Multi-RAT mode
SRAN baseband
SBTS baseband resources sharing
• Additional baseband resources for WCDMA or LTE can be allocated with FBBA/C cards.
• FSMF or FBBC card baseband capacity cannot be shared between LTE and WCDMA .

SRAN baseband LTE
SBTS baseband resources sharing
There are three LTE baseband SW allocation types, depending on LTE radio configuration (supported
bandwidth / # cells / features):
• Reduced Cell Set (RCS)
• Basic Cell Set (BCS)
• Extended Cell Set (ECS)
Each configuration affects BB allocation (-> amount of FSMF/FBBC cards)
Reduced cell set (RCS) Basic cell set (BCS) Extended cell set (ECS)
• up to 3x10MHz LTE 2x2 MIMO with • up to 6x10MHz LTE 2x2 MIMO • 3x20MHz LTE with
CoMP in FSMF • up to 3x10MHz LTE 4TX/4RX 4TX/4RX capability
• up to 4x10MHz LTE 2x2 MIMO • up to 3x20MHz LTE 2x2 MIMO Extended cell set between 2
without CoMP in FSMF 4TX/4RX = 4x2MIMO, 4x4MIMO or/and FBBCs is not supported.
4RX diversity mode
Allows to allocate LTE and GSM (up to 24 Requires whole FSMF or FBBC card for Requires whole FSMF and 1x FBBC card
TRXs) in same FSMF LTE processing for LTE processing
Note that different LTE SW allocation are possible in single BTS (e.g. 2x BCS or RCS + BCS) assuming suitable HW capacity

SBTS baseband resources sharing - Summary
• System Module sharing functionality allows to share single BTS baseband resources between different
RATs (i.e. GSM / WCDMA / LTE).
• SBTS supported configuration can be found in the following excel file describing SBTS profiles.
