Case refers to the form a noun or pronoun
takes depending on its function in a sentence.
English pronouns have three cases: subjective,
objective, and possessive.
See the table below :
Subjective Objective Possessive
I Me My, Mine
You You Yours
They Them Theirs
We Us Ours
He Him His
She Her Hers
It It Its
Who Whom Whose
The subjective (or nominative) pronouns are I,
you (singular), he/she/it, we, you (plural),
they and who. A subjective pronoun acts as a
subject in a sentence. See the sentences below for
illustration:
N+V+N
Danu asked Didiet about bottles of milk
He asked him about it
He told it to him
Although personal pronouns occur in all sentence pattern, this pattern server sell to illustrate the use of the
nominative and objective forms, since the nominative form is used in the subject position and the objective
form is used as a direct object after the verb. The possessive form is used before nouns.
