Spring in the Washing Pit Line

 Stepwise activities
1. Putting wooden wedge both side of the wheel.

2. Isolate the Trolley and release the coach
manually. (Time consumption: negligible)
 Stepwise activities
3A. Open the Nut – bolt of shock absorber.
(Time consumption: 02 minutes)

3B. Remove the shock absorber from bolts.
(Time consumption: 02 minutes)
 Stepwise activities
4. Open the safety strap of equalizing stay. (Time
consumption: 02 minutes)

5. Open Safety strap of Bolster. (Time consumption :

02 Minutes)
 Stepwise activities
6. Open any Pin of Equalizing stay of affected side with the
help of special gadget of Equalizing stay and remove Eq.
Stay from one side. (Time Consumption: 05 minutes)
 Stepwise activities
7. Place the “C” shaped special gadget between Bolster lug
and bogie frame. (Time Consumption: 02 minutes)
 Stepwise activities
8. Place the small jack below lower spring beam and lift to
free the BSS hangers. (Time Consumption: 05 minutes)
 Stepwise activities
9. Place the special gadget for lifting and lowering the spring beam
between bogie frame and Lower spring beam and remove the
small jack by lowering. (Time Consumption: 03 minutes)
 Stepwise activities
10. Lower the spring beam from one side with the help
of gadget. (Time Consumption: 03 minutes)
 Stepwise activities
11. Remove the spring from its seat. (Time
Consumption: 02 minutes)
 Stepwise activities
12. Place the New spring on the seat. (Time
Consumption: 02 minutes)
 Stepwise activities
13. Lift the spring beam with the help of gadget. Place small jack
below the spring beam. (Time Consumption: 05 minutes)
 Stepwise activities
14. Lift the small jack. Make the spring beam gadget free to be
removed. Place the BSS hangers at its position. (Time
Consumption: 05 minutes)
 Stepwise activities
15. . Remove the “C” shape special gadget. Fit the BSS hanger
properly. Remove the small Jack. (Time Consumption: 03
minutes)
 Stepwise activities
16. Fit the Bolster Safety Strap. (Time
Consumption: 02 Minutes)
17. Place special gadget of Eq. Stay. Fit the
Equalizing Stay. (Time Consumption: 05
Minutes)
18. Fit the safety strap of Eq. Stay (Time
Consumption: 02 Minutes)
19. Fit the shock absorber. (Time Consumption: 02
Minutes)
20. Remove the wooden wedges from the wheel
and reset the isolating cock in its original
position.

Changing of Dashpot Spring
in the Washing Pit Line
 Stepwise activities
1. Putting wooden wedge both side of the wheel.
(Time consumption: negligible)
 Stepwise activities
2. Isolate the Trolley and release the coach
manually. (Time consumption: negligible)
 3. Open the Dashpot safety strap of
affected wheel completely and make
adjacent wheel free from safety strap.
(Time consumption: 04 Minutes)
 4.Place the jack between Dashpot and
bolster below trolley frame and lift the
trolley. (Time consumption: 07 Minutes)
5. After lifting remove the broken spring and Place
the new spring. (Time consumption: 05 Minutes)
6. Lower the Trolley frame by lowering the
Jack. (Time consumption: 04 Minutes)
7. Check the both spring height to ensure
proper setting of spring. (Time
consumption: 01 Minutes)
8.Remove the jack and fit the safety
straps. (Time consumption: 05 Minutes)

9. Remove the wooden wedges from the

wheel and reset the isolating cock in its
original position. (Time consumption:
Negligible)
