INTRODUCTION

•Wind power has become a useful source of energy over

the past few decades as larger, more efficient turbine
designs have produced ever increasing amounts of
power.

•In conditional wind power generations transportation is

increasingly challenging because of the size of the
components.

•Bladeless windmill will generate electricity for 40

percent lesser in cost compared to conventional wind
windmill.
VORTEX BLADELESS WINDMILL

Latest in the series of modification is a technological leap forward

and a revolution in wind energy. A more efficient cost effective and
environmental friendly way to produce energy called vortex
bladeless which works on the principle of vortex shedding.

VORTEX SHEDDING
• In fluid dynamics, vortex shedding is an oscillating flow
that takes place when a fluid such as air or water flows
past a bluff (as opposed to streamlined) body at certain
velocities, depending on the size and shape of the body.

Fig: Vortex shedding

WORKING PRINCIPLE
•The structure attracts whirlwinds which develop at determined frequencies
depending on the speed at which wind is travelling.

•When the frequency of the vortex coincides with the frequency of the
structure, the energy observed .

•This system is based on the principle as an alternator or electro magnetic

induction

•The oscillations reaction to air vortices to move a series of magnets located

in the joint near its base to generate electricity

•Then used to power an alternator which multiplies the frequency of the

towers oscillations and coverts the motion in to usable electricity
MATERIAL

Bladeless wind turbines completely eliminate mechanical

elements that can suffer wear by friction. The main materials
used for manufacturing Vortex turbines are carbon fiber
polymers, plastics, steel, neodymium and copper.
ADVANTAGES
•The wind generator does not have any moving parts in contact,
which eliminates the need for lubrication and reduces the wear and
tear.

•The design completely eliminates mechanical elements that can

suffer wear and tear from friction, leading to an estimated 53 %
reduction in maintenance costs compared to traditional wind.

•Birds can fly around them without fear of being sucked in.

•It reduces foundation at the bottom by 50%.

DIS ADVANTAGES

•The efficiency of the energy absorbed from the wind is

comparatively less than that of the conventional wind turbine.

•The height of the mass can be increased based on the output

required.

APPLICATIONS

•Bladeless energy for Agriculture.

•Industries

•Schools

•Off grid power for rail signaling
