INTRODUCTION

Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation

Limited(UPPTCL) is the Company responsible for electricity transmission
and distribution within the Indian state of Utter Pradesh. Its chairman is
Sri Alok Kumar.

Mohaddipur substation is divided between two section

devision-1 and Devision-2 . Which contain of 132/33KV power supply.
And at section-2.Power supply comes from MOTIRAMADDA and
MOHADDIPUR(old) substation.

Section of Substation
One incoming section of 132kv

Two outgoing section 132kv and 33kv

1)-132kv incoming section:-

MOTIRAMADDA

MOHADDIPUR(OLD)

2)-132/33KV OUTGOING:-

BUXIPUR BASHARATPUR

GDA SHAHPUR
TOWNHALL
AIRFORCE
YARD SECTION

132KV section:-

There are two bus bars in which one is Main busbar and other
one is Transfer busbar .

It has two incoming feeders i.e. From MOTIRAM ADDA &

MOHADDIPUR(old).

132/33KV section:-

It has SIX outgoing feeders of 33kv.

It is transmission of the power supply through the outgoing feeders

to
SHAPUR,BUXIPUR,GDATOWER,BASARATPUR,TOWNHALL,
AIRFORCE.
These 33kv supply is given by two 40MVA transformer.
BATTERY ROOM

110dc supply required for operation of circuit breaker:-

55 batteries of 2v,300AH(for regular use).

55 batteries of 2v,300AH(for backup).

DC supply also required for operation in control room:-

55 Batteries of 2v,500AH(exide industries).

RELAY
A relay is an electrically operated or electromechanical switch composed of
an electromagnet, an armature, a spring and a set of electrical contacts.

The electromagnetic switch is operated by a small electric current that turns a

larger current on or off by either releasing or retracting the armature contact,
thereby cutting or completing the circuit.

Relays are necessary when there must be electrical isolation between

controlled and control circuits, or when multiple circuits need to be
controlled by a single signal.

Fig.(1):- POWER RELAY

CIRCUIT BREAKER

A circuit breaker is an automatically operated electrical

switch designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by
excess current from an overload or short circuit.

Its basic function is to interrupt current flow after a fault is detected.

Unlike a fuse, which operates once and then must be replaced, a circuit
breaker can be reset (either manually or automatically) to resume
normal operation.

Fig.(2):-CIRCUIT BREAKER
ISOLATOR

In electrical engineering ,a disconnector , disconnect switch or isolator

switch is used to ensure that an electrical circuit is completely de-
energized for service or maintenance.

High-voltage isolation switches are used in electrical substations to allow

isolation of apparatus such as circuit breaker, transformer, and transmission
lines

Fig.(3):-ISOLATOR
TRANSFORMER
A transformer is a static electrical device that transfers electrical energy
between two or more circuits through electromagnetic induction. A varying
current in one coil of the transformer produces a varying magnetic field,
which in turn induces a varying electromotive force (emf) or "voltage" in a
second coil. Power can be transferred between the two coils, without a
metallic connection between the two circuits.
There are three 40MVA transformer:-
1. Two 40MVA ,132/33kv transformer (SIMENS)

LIGHTENING ARRESTER(LA)

A lightning arrester (alternative spelling lightning arrestor) (also

called lightning diverter) is a device used on electric power systems
and telecommunication systems to protect the insulation and conductors of
the system from the damaging effects of lightning.

The typical lightning arrester has a high-voltage terminal and a ground

terminal. When a lightning surge (or switching surge, which is very similar)
travels along the power line to the arrester, the current from the surge is
diverted through the arrester, in most cases to earth.

Fig.(4):-LIGHTENING ARRESTER
CAPACITOR BANK

A Capacitor Bank is a group of several capacitors of the same rating that are
connected in series or parallel with each other to store electrical energy .

The resulting bank is then used to counteract or correct a power factor lag or
phase shift in an alternating current (AC) power supply

Fig.(5):-CAPACITOR BANK
WAVE TRAP
A line trap (high-frequency stopper) is a maintenance-free parallel resonant
circuit, mounted inline on high-voltage (HV) AC transmission power lines to
prevent the transmission of high frequency(40 kHz to 1000 kHz) carrier
signals of power line communication to unwanted destinations.

Line traps are cylinder-like structures connected in series with HV

transmission lines. A line trap is also called a wave trap

Fig.(6):-WAVE TRAP
FEEDER

Distribution feeder circuits are the connections between the output

terminals of a distribution substation and the input terminals of primary
circuits.

The distribution feeder circuit conductors leave the substation from a

circuit breaker or circuit recloser via underground cables,
called substation exit cables.
CURRENT TRANSFORMER

A current transformer (CT) is a type of transformer that is used to measure

alternating current (AC).

It produces a current in its secondary which is proportional to

the current in its primary.

Current transformers, along with voltage or potential transformers, are

instrument transformers.

CONCLUSION
Every engineer want to getting any important task in practically but not
theoretically, And every students supposed to practical training session after
3rd year where I have Widely got the knowledge about transmission,
distribution and maintenance with Economical factors related to it.

At last would like to say that practical training taken at 132KV sub-station
MOHADDIPUR has widened knowledge and widened my thinking.
