CONJUNCTION

CONJUNCTIONS…..

 The words which are used to join two or more sentences


together or two words within the same sentences are call
conjunctions.
Example – I went out because the sun was shining

COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS

 COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS used to connect two independent


clauses

Notes :
 Always use a comma when you build a compound sentences
with a coordinating conjuntions:
 Lili was hungry, so she ate all the pizza.
 Only independent clauses that have a relationship should
be combined with a coordinating conjuntion:
 correct – Cats can have moist food, or they can have
dry food
 error – Cats can have moist food, and the phone rang
CORRELATIVE CONJUNCTIONS

 CORRELATIVE CONJUNTIONS which


always travel in pairs, and join sentences
parts that should be treated as equal.
Correlative conjuntion example

Both…and Both my sister and my brother play


the piano.

Either…or I will eat either carrots or peas for


dinner.

Neither…nor Lili likes neither milk nor cream cake.

Whether…or He passed the test,whether by skill or


luck.
