    40 days – from Ash Wednesday – to Easter Sunday


    LENT – is a time to reflect, repent and prepare our hearts
    for the celebration of Easter.
    Where is Lent in the Bible?
    The season and the observance of Lent does not actually
    appear in the Bible.
    Greek – lent is TESSARAKOSTI = the 40.
    Ex. Exodus 34-28, Mt. 4:1-2.
    During theses circumstances both Moses and Jesus were
    fasting

    Idea of giving up-
    Fasting not only on food!
    Why do we give up something during Lent?
    So that we have more room for God in our life.
    Removing something to make room for the one
    thing = Removing distractions
    So that we can pursue God’s goodness and likeness
