INTRODUCTION
 Wind is a natural power source.
 The terms wind energy or wind power describes the process by which the wind
is used to generate electricity.
 Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power.
This mechanical power , generator can convert this mechanical power into
electricity.
 The wind turbine is used for conversion of kinetic energy of wind into electrical
energy. The wind turns the blades, which spin a shaft, which connects to a
generator and makes electricity.
 The perpendicular frictionless wind turbine design is a vast departure from
conventional propeller designs. Its main advantages are that it uses frictionless
bearings and a magnetic perpendicular frictionless design
 The vertically oriented blades of the wind turbine are suspended in the air re-
placing any need for ball bearings.

Working principle between Stator &
Rotor
 In the designed prototype, the stator and rotor are separated in
the air using the principle of magnetic repulsion.
 The rotor is lifted by a certain centimeters in the air by the
magnetic repulsive forces created by the ring type Neodymium
magnets. This is the principal advantage of a suspended
frictionless windmill from a conventional one.
 That is, as the rotor is floating in the air due to magnetic
repulsion , mechanical friction is totally eliminated. That makes
the rotation possible in very low wind speeds.
 That means when the wind starts flowing , it will rotate the
blades of windmill that means it will rotate the rotor which
contain Neodymium magnets . when rotor starts rotating
between the coil of stator then because of electromagnetic
induction EMF get induce.
Neodymium Magnet
A neodymium magnet the most widely used type of rare-earth
magnet, is a permanent magnet made from
an alloy of neodymium, iron and boron to by neodymium magnets
are the strongest type of permanent magnet commercially available.

Using Magnet Size:

Small- 25×6 mm
Medium-35×10mm
Rectifier
1. A rectifier is an electrical device that converts an Alternating Current (AC) into a
Direct Current (DC).
2. The rectifier has ac voltage supply from turbine and it converts it into dc.Then it
passes to boost converter.

Inverter
A power inverter, or inverter, is an electronic device or
circuitry that changes direct current (DC) to alternating
current (AC).[1]
The input voltage, output voltage and frequency, and
overall power handling depend on the design of the specific
device or circuitry.
The inverter does not produce any power; the power is
provided by the DC source

12 volt dc inverter
Boost Converter

A boost converter (step-up converter) is a DC-to-DC power

converter that steps up voltage (while stepping down current)
from its input (supply) to its output.
Advantages
 for the suspended frictionless wind turbine would be in residential areas.
Here it can be mounted to a roof and be very efficient and practically .

 It is suitable for integrating with the hybrid power generation units

consisting of solar and other natural resources.

 Very low maintainance

 Zero generation cost

 A home owner would be able to extract free clean energy thus

experiencing a reduction in their utility cost and also contribute to the
“Green Energy” awareness that is increasingly gaining popularity

 Energy Transmission cost is very lessThe home

Disadvantage
 High power generation is not possible.
 Poor self-starting capabilities
 Overall poor performance and reliability
Conclusion
• we done our literature survey and market survey on VAWT.
And it has try to mentioned advantages, applications,
limitations.

• And also it is understood that in the future most of our

energy source will based on wind energy.

• We justify that how to VAWT works and produces electricity

through block diagram.

• Also, we understood how to design blade and

measurement of wind speed with use of anemometer.

• It had made a prototype model with using a acrylic

material and try to mentioned a it looks like a original
model.
Future Scope
 The home for the suspended frictionless wind turbine would be in residential
areas. Here it can be mounted to a roof
 A home owner would be able to extract free clean energy thus experiencing a
reduction in their utility cost and also contribute to the “Green Energy”
awareness that is increasingly gaining popularity.
 The suspended frictionless windmill can be designed for using in a moderate
scale power generation ranging from 400 Watts to 1 KW
 It is suitable for integrating with the hybrid power generation units consisting
of solar and other natural resources.
