Objectives

• At the end of the session the participants should


be able to:
– Gain understanding about the periodic table and its
features

Specifically, the participants should be able to:


– Trace the development of the periodic table from
observations based on similarities in properties of
elements (S8MT-IIIg-h-11)

In grade 5 learners investigated changes that


happen in materials under the following
conditions:

• Mass Number. An integer number of atomic mass units;


however, the atomic mass on the periodic table is stated as a
decimal number because it is an average of the various
isotopes of an element.

• The average number of neutrons for an element can be


found by subtracting the number of protons (atomic number)
