Alexandre DumasHe(1802-1870)
was born on July 24 1802 near
Soissons, France
His unhappy last years were softened by the presence of his son,
Alexandre, and his daughter, Madame Petel. (The elder Alexandre
Dumas is generally called Dumas père to distinguish him from his son,
known as Dumas fils, who was also a dramatistand novelist.)
Dumas père died in poverty on December 5, 1870.

is a historical adventure novel written in 1844 by French
author Alexandre Dumas
In genre, The Three Musketeers is primarily a historical and
adventure novel. However, Dumas also frequently works into
the plot various injustices, abuses, and absurdities of the old
regime, giving the novel an additional political aspect at a time
when the debate in France
between republics and monarchist was still fierce. The story
was first serialised from March to July 1844, during the july
monarchy four years before the French of Revolution violently
established the Second Republic.
