Introduction

• Congenital Talipes Equino Varus (CTEV) or Clubfoot incidence  1-


6.8/1000 live birth
• Conservative (Ponseti method) > surgical
• Weekly corrective manipulation and casting
• Inconclusive evidence regarding optimal cast change interval to
stretch the soft tissue
• This study compares the result between standard ponseti (7 day
interval) and accelerated ponseti )3 day interval) with minimum
follow up of 5 years
Materials and Method
• Study design  prospective non randomized study
• Setting  Kerala Institute of Medical Science, Trivandrum from
September 2011 – 2018
• Group 1  7 Days
• Group 2  3 Days
• Iclusion
• Age Less than 1 year
• Spine and hip of the patient should have no abnormality
• Parent should provide consent for inclusion in the study
• Exclusion
• Congenital or neurological deformity in the child
• Relapsed or recurrent clubfoot
• Any previous intervention, conservative or surgical, done elsewhere
