Proposal

Claude, Paul and Viktor.

Main idea

• The main idea of our short film revolves around 3

main characters who are kidnapped by an unknown
mysterious man.
• The 3 main characters all wake up in a dark room at
an unknown location .
• To get out alive they have to play a video game , every
time they get hit in the game they feel it physically and if
they die in the game they die In real life.
• Location of the short film will be largely set in a dark
room because it fits with the conventions of the horror
genre as it creates a peculiar mood and atmosphere for
the audience.
• The second location will be set in a dark alley with a
light at the end which will be peculiar , this is the first
scene where the main character will be kidnaped
Inspirations
• Our main inspiration for our short film is horror/thriller
movie Saw.

• We were captivated by the phycological and traumatic

concept and disturbing storyline of this movie.

• We incorporated the idea of the main characters being

kidnapped and held in a unknown location and forced to
get out by killing each other in our own short film

• But in a way that still makes our short film unique and
original.
Lighting

• The lighting in the film will be Low key lighting

because Low key lighting has connotations of
mystery, suspense and can create a darker
atmosphere for the audience which is ideal for the
horror/thriller genre. Low key lighting is used in
my film to create tension in our film as it makes
the scenes darker which usually implies mystery
or creates suspense. Low key lighting is also
relevant as it is a generic convention for horror
films. I can achieve the lighting effect by filming in
a dark setting e.g. empty room or edit it in our
post production phase.
Camera Shots
• The camera shots in our short film will include:

A) High angle Shots- These kinds of shots are used in horrors and thrillers
to make the figure that is being looked down on seem completely
powerless and vulnerable.

B) Close up Shots- This is the shot that shows the most emotion from the
characters. It is also used to capture detail in an important scene.

C) Handheld Camera Shots- . It makes the audience feel involved and

adds to the horror of the scene as you feel like you are there.
How is it different from what is already on the
market?
• Our short film is distinctive because it goes against the
conventions of majority of horror films available on the
market from props to characters and narrative.

• The killing weapon is not a knife or a chainsaw but a

video game , it is a new and refreshing concept which
hasn’t been explored in the horror/thriller genre.

• The Villain identity is never revealed nor is he caught or

killed

• The video game idea is unique in the market since there

are very few movies that follows the same idea/genre.
This may attract some audiences that have never seen
any film that follows this idea especially since
videogames are very popular in today’s time.
Unions

• BBFC - Age rating would be 15 years and

over because , the short film will have some
elements of violence but not strong sadistic
violence also they may be strong language
and drugs might be also shown.
Crew roles

My crew decided to create a document that

identifies which crewmember is responsible
for a specific role. This allows us to know
what task we are meant to be doing and
avoid and complications between the crew
members about who’s responsible for what
task.
Production Schedule

We created a production schedule to allow us to plan

when we are meant to do certain tasks such as when to
start our production. This allows our crew to know when
our deadline is and to identify what we can do to meet
these deadlines. Being able to meet the deadlines allow
our film to be completed smoothly without any
interference such as missing the deadline.
We created an equipment
list to allow us to know
what equipment/prop we
need for our production.
This list will allow us to
prepare before our
production which allows
us to easily produce our
film without any problems
such as a prop missing for
a specific scene.

Equipment List
Permission of Filming
• Will need to ask any drama teacher for permission to film in the
drama room.

• Also filming in a public place so no permission is needed
